Last year the team missed the playoffs by 17 points. They were not in the hunt… and the ‘crap division’ was so bad, Vegas got the WC2 seed with 98 points! The Flames picked 9th overall; they were just five points ahead of the Habs, who picked 5th.

I'm not a tanker, but let's not go making up our own history here.

I remember that post, and I still disagree with how you categorized it.

He played way better here than he ever did in the AHL. Much better players. Way more pressure. With normal Flames goaltending we would not have been so close to making the playoffs.

I think you meant if he was 60% as dominant in NHL as he was in the AHL. I think he was pretty close. Not a Vézina winning year, but he will be a Calder top three player IMO.

Yes, the bottom teams in the West are worse than the East. But the top teams may be better, and it should be noted that the Flames swept against Mtl, NYR, NYI, PHI, NJD, and were .500 v Caps, Fla, CBJ, Sabres. So they beat non-PO teams there just as much as here. They'd arguably be in the POs there.
