He did improve winning percentage by 0.128 year over year from 0.360 to 0.488 but the ducks are spinning tires anymore and have too much graduated youth to be this terrible.
I watched the Ducks live twice this season and both times I came away thinking that they were one of the worst NHL hockey teams ive watched in person and I watched the Taylor Hall Oilers. They have some decent talent but in the games I attended they barely threw any hits and just played a very soft/weak type of game.
It’s interesting because it is exactly the opposite of the type of style they played in the 2010’s.
The story is that their younger players absolutely hated him and tuned him out. (1:08:25 mark)
Lol! I've found the opposite to be more effective.
Make your players love you. When you come down hard on them later? It becomes effective.
"Oh! This guy who has never been anything but kind and supportive all of a sudden comes down on me like a sack of bricks? This is serious! I'd better get my #### together!!"
Just being tough all the time doesn't work. It'll work for a bit, but it wears off fast.
Whereas, "we are a team. Together. We work together."
So when that moment comes when you pull out all the stops? It really becomes effective.
