What is with this mythology around Fujita? Any time a player or prospect has skating issues it's just hand waved away; "Don't worry, Fujita will change that."... This seems crazy to me. All teams have skating coaches... is she that much better?

If Parekh can play like he did last night and keep improving, he could really be an elite talent.
 Exactly what this team needs.

Don’t even think he scratched the surface. He’s going to get better and that’s scary …. For other teams.

I kind of hope he keeps 89. In Calgary, that number has swagger.

I hope so as well, both because of the significance of that number and because I'm kind-of sick of the whole "high numbers are only given to rookies and minor-leaguers"

89 is dope, hope he keeps it

Ya, it’s a little much. Development isn’t like Sim City where you just up the Fujita levels. Darryl belfry on the other hand.

That was speculative I think from Vancouver radio guys. they were skeptical about his ability to translate to the NHL due to his skating. Not really sure what happened there. The Vancouver environment is so odd. Seems like a nice place to play in theory, but fans, media, players, and management/ownership all have a contentious relationship

She is very good. My son has trained with her a dozen or so times, and the difference she made quickly is really impressive. Some of his friends have done likewise, and after a set of sessions one of them was a totally different skater. She has an ability to simplify fine details to be very easy to understand and adjust, and picks up those details in skaters in a really impressive way. Clearly my kid does not skate at a pro level, but listening to her point out mistakes in the way some of the pros skate, that have never been caught before, makes me think she is a genuine difference maker.

I understand that she's very good. That said, it's up to the player. Brayden Point took his skating coach seriously and worked hard at it. It's not something a player can do with one or two sessions with a coach. Tkachuk didn't improve much, for example.

I will second this. The way she breaks down the stride into easy to understand parts and the improvement in one session with any kid/adult is amazing. I applied 2 things she said and my skating stride improved overnight. As a coach I still pass it along to the kids I coach. It’s so simple and effective. We had her out for an hour this year in U11 tier 1 and the improvement was noticeable to every kid, parent and coach.

Flames are blessed to have her.
