IMO any good fortune he basically walked into for the most part. The botched stats rollout was one of the worst things I have ever seen from the league. An entire season of broken stats pages was comically bad.

Yeah, that was bad, but even worse was having no plan to deal with COVID-19 and losing an entire season. He basically was hoping the federal government would bail out the CFL and the feds told him to pound sand.

If I remember correctly, the government asked to see the CFL books before they would give them any money and the CFL balked at the request.

Yeah, also I think it was reported that the CFL presentation was shockingly bad as far as details were concerned and that the league was essentially relying on the CFL being an important part of the Canadian fabric/culture. When you're asking for $150 million, you need a little more than emotional impact.

Seriously how can you ask the government for a $150 million bailout and not expect to show them your books? That was such a bad look.

One of the most baffling things I've ever seen in sports marketing history was - City has a tourist attraction that brings in thousands of tourists (many of which are Americans who love football) who spend millions of dollars along with locals being more open with their wallets during the party = yeah we'll just have our football team leave the city for that every year because we don't want to compete with that? Just pants on head stupid thinking.

Well look at the name of our football team. They want nothing to do with the Stampede...

Ambroise with the Mexican and Euro combines was sorta out there.

The CFL is basically TSN owned now, and has been for 20 years, but especially so the last TV deal. Who else would bid for TV rights?

So makes sense from a business standpoint to keep it somewhat incestuous to make sure the company paying the biggest revenue to each team, is kept happy.

I don't know if ESPN still shows CFL but I have conversed in the past on Raiders forums with US people that actually followed the CFL in the summer. I don't think the CFL is ever going to break into the US market in a meaningful way but to me it's the only realistic market outside of Canada where there's a bit of growth potential, albeit small.

It was being shown on the CBS Sport Network last year. I think before the NFL season started they showed quite a few games.

Here’s hoping it leads to less injuries.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t that turf put in 2005? At the time it was some of the best in the league, it had those black seeds in them that would always fly.
