Silver’s post reminds me of the time that Craig Chandler came to my door during the last federal election and opened with “Can the Conservatives count on your vote or would you like to keep giving Justin Trudeau more of your money?” I cordially invited him to “get [his] fat ass off my property”. He earned it, reprehensible slug of a man. I proceeded to get an NDP lawn sign for the provincial election after.

In Youtube go to your settings, notifications, and turn off "product updates" I think. Maybe turn everything off.

FYI if you use Firefox mobile with Ublock you can just go to Youtube.com and watch without ads. Android, anyway.

I've tried that, I cannot seem to get it right and it makes it worse sometimes just a more solid plug and it takes hours it seems.

YouTube notifications are entirely disabled. The problem is that it's not a notification, it's the app itself.

I don't use YouTube on my phone nearly enough to fuss around with another browser, but that's a good tip if someone already uses Firefox mobile.

I pay for YouTube Premium so ads aren't a concern. It also supports creators more than ad revenue does. Plus I share it with five people who get all of the benefits as well.

I don't feel great about giving Google/Alphabet money but I wouldn't want to live without it.

I asked him point blank who he would prefer as mayor. His response was “with gritted teeth I’d vote for Farkas”. I looked up Chandler after he left and found quotes from him saying that he fully and wholly supported Farkas, made it sound like they were best buds.
