I think at minimum he wouldn't be the worst performer on the team, so he should be on it.
Edited to add: you're right though - the season is 10% done and they're leading the division and on pace for 91 points. What they're doing now is working...

Its remarkable this team is 9-7 to start with only 8 HR combined. Thats an 80 HR clip for the season.

I don't think it's a big deal will turn around.

Only thing is they talk platoon advantage vs lefties. We have lot of lefties. Schneider would be a righty. Might be lukes or roden (more seasoning?)
We need Martinez (slow start though in minors)

I get Varsho isn't the most exciting player at the plate, but come on

I could see it being one of the left-handed outfielders for that reason plus defensive flexibility. If your bench is Heineman, Wagner, Roden, and Lukes you only have 1 infielder (Wagner). That limits your flexibility. Schneider playing 2B allows you to move Gimenez elsewhere (eg SS/3B) if needed.

Wasnt saying its a big deal, and I agree it will turn around. Just impressive record to start given lack of homeruns.

Admittedly I haven't watched all their games but I haven't seen any plays he would have made in CF had he been playing.
He will make the defense better but so far I haven't really missed him.

The lack of power has been truly astonishing. I feel like the weather has played a huge factor in that. There was several balls hit to the track in the Boston and Baltimore series that would've gone out in warmer weather and not drizzling rain. With that said. Players like Bo, Vlad, and Santander should be able to hit it out at any time in any weather. And with all those one run losses even just a couple of homers and their record is likely even better.

I think the way it improves the defense is more by moving Straw/Lukes to the corner and Santander to permanent DH you improve the corner outfield defense. Straw especially is also a very good defensive CF.
If you have Lukes/Roden/Straw splitting left, Varsho in CF and Springer in RF that's a very strong outfield defense.

I fully expect the struggling 4-11 Braves to come in and own us because who better for them to start to turn their season around against than us right?

Contract details for Guerrero have been published.
https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/_.../contract/cash
Signing bonus is even $21.8 MM per year over the life of the contract. Advantages for the player are that is guaranteed even in work stoppage and is paid in Florida where he lives (so no Canadian or US State taxes on that part). Base salary starts at $17 MM and declines down to $6.25 MM by the final year. That probably helps the Jays stay competitive from an after-tax compensation point of view with less total dollars.
The declining arrangement might make the final 2 years movable with little retention if they traded him with an effective date after the 2nd last signing bonus installment was paid, as after that he'll be owed $34.3 total for 2 years of service. I could see a team trying to boost their payroll for MLBPA compliance reasons being interested in that as his AAV will still be $35.7 MM. Hopefully he is highly productive for the first ~8 years. If the Jays win a WS nobody will care about the end of the deal.

Well. We all knew Easton Lucas wasn't Greg Maddux and that a game like this was coming. It just sucks that the bats are so boring to watch. There's a reason chicks dig the long ball.

Maybe this is just because I really only watch the Jays and because we're in the AL, but who the #### is Austin Riley.
This is ridiculous.

Hes a 6 war player who averages 35 HRs and is 28 and signed for 200 million a few years ago
He might be the best 3B in the majors (probably Ramerez )

Watching the Braves ABs - attacking the ball , hard uppercut swings , aggressive , and the swings look like they can do damage
Watching Jays - weak opposite field defensive swings
The new batting coach apparently didn’t change the hitting philosophy at all - which makes me wonder if this strategy to hitting come from their renowned analytics department

Wild that I've never even heard of him.
Apparently I need to pay more attention.

Dead last last in HR so far this season. This power outage is going on like 3 seasons at this point. I'm also so tired of seeing 1 pitch at bats.
