He listed the things he and trumpers agree on in that segment and none of them are very far right. The most controversial statement he made there was "biological men shouldn't be playing women's sports", which if we're being totally honest is probably a pretty mainstream statement in the USA as a whole, unfortunately.
As far as humanizing Trump, he basically just recounted what happened. It's reasonable to interpret that as Trump moderating himself, obviously, but not sure what you want Maher to do aside from not go in the first place. If Trump was on his best behaviour that's really all he can report; i.e. nothing crazy happened.
Maher is just... not funny and so smug he's basically unwatchable. His panelists always seem to mirror that tone. I don't know who that show is for or why it's still on.
Well Maher was clearly pissed at the one panelist who downplayed his dinner, arguing that Trump essentially played Maher.
Trump has announced that he is suing CBS, 60 Minutes, and Paramount for billions. This comes after their latest interview with Zelenskyy who Trump is attempting to undermine in service to Russia & its invasion of Ukraine. The official excuse the regime is presenting is “election interference”.

Almost every week, 60 Minutes, which is being sued for Billions of Dollars for the fraud they committed in the 2024 Presidential Election with their Interview of Failed Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris, mentions the name "TRUMP" in a derogatory and defamatory way, but this Weekend's "BROADCAST" tops them all.
They did not one, but TWO, major stories on "TRUMP," one having to do with Ukraine, which I say is a War that would never have happened if the 2020 Election had not been RIGGED, in other words, if I were President and, the other story was having to do with Greenland, casting our Country, as led by me, falsely, inaccurately, and fraudulently. I am so honored to be suing 60 Minutes, CBS Fake News, and Paramount, over their fraudulent, beyond recognition, reporting. They did everything possible to illegally elect Kamala, including completely and corruptly changing major answers to Interview questions, but it just didn't work for them. They are not a "News Show," but a dishonest Political Operative simply disguised as "News," and must be responsible for what they have done, and are doing. They should lose their license!
Hopefully, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as headed by its Highly Respected Chairman, Brendan Carr, will impose the maximum fines and punishment, which is substantial, for their unlawful and illegal behavior. CBS is out of control, at levels never seen before, and they should pay a big price for this.

Turns out that CBS knuckling under before to appease trump didnt work...he is going after them again. No one ever learns.

Well according to his Dr he is 6'4 224lbs, 5% body fat, ready to play WR for Dallas Cowboys this upcoming season, physical specimen who have his Dr a hardon looking at him.
Meanwhile the hospital records show he is 5'10 and 284lbs.
He is also on medication for cholesterol so maybe a heart attack is near?

Been watching Maher for about 40 years. Started in high school. He was the first Atheist I saw on TV, and that drew me in. He has always talked to both sides of the political spectrum, and has always been crapped on by both.
Maher is pretty open about how he will talk with anybody. He also generally calls out BS when he recognizes it. As someone who was cancelled for 911 comments (he said words to the effect of flying a plane into a building is braver than pushing a button to launch a cruise missile) he doesn't think you should be silenced for your opinions. Free speech is paramount.
His most important issue is the environment. He figures that's what's going to kill us and it's utterly ignored politically.
He acknowledges that the far left is just as crazy as the far right, but way less dangerous. He thinks things like pronouns and trans rights turn off Joe Public from voting for Democrats. He thinks the Republicans cheat, and the Democrats are weaklings. He knew Trump was going to win the first time, that he wasn't going to concede in 2020, but thought the "eating the cats and dogs" was the end for Trump.
He thinks vaccines should be personal choice because big Pharma is committed to profit over healthcare (I disagree). He thinks hockey sucks because it isn't American (again disagree).
Anyway - I see posts here from time to time that I feel mischaracterize him. That said, he's super wealthy, getting pretty old, and that bias comes through time to time (crapping on Gen Z non-stop).
I like that he isn't afraid to bring full MAGA nuts and have them sit at a table with former CIA members and a random author, have open discussions. You're going to hear things you don't like, it's going to get heated. Then he'll bust the tension with some of the dumbest humor on TV today.
It works. His show is about as centrist as you can get IMO.

That's a really tough one - the US Supreme Court's jurisdiction doesn't include telling El Salvador what to do.
If the US Supreme court issued a ruling saying Canada had to do something I think it's pretty likely in the current climate we'd do the opposite just as an FU to the USA.
I think the court should start holding administration officials in contempt and jailing them though, because ignoring that initial order was absolutely criminal.

I am 100% sure that the U.S. could get that guy back from El Salvador if they put some effort into it. It's beyond frustrating that their government is just throwing their hands in the air and saying welp, what can you do. They have no interest in that. Of course they could. But then they'd have to abandon their plan to send more Americans there. If they can nullify birthright citizenship they are going to have a lot of deporting to get to. I'm not sure people have really caught on to what is going on, and how truly horrible and authoritarian their new government is.
