Just got back from the game. What a solid team effort. No passengers once again. Few things to highlight:
-Wolf… what can you say? The kid is a machine. So sharp and held the team in it when they needed him to.
-Loving the Backlund line lately. Both Backlund and Coleman have elevated their game to a fantastic level in the last few weeks. What a difference it makes having Backlund healthy (or at least healthier - I have no idea if he’s 100% or not). Makes me want the flames to adopt a poilicy of sitting guys if they have nagging injuries during the regular season rather than have them play through it for long periods (eg. Monahan for years and Backlund this year). He is playing soooo much better than he did before he went on IR.
-Coronato is such a skilled goal scorer. I truly think he has what it takes to be a threat to score 40 every year in his prime. And he grinds so hard along the boards too and wins battles. Love his game.
-Klapka is such a mutant that teams really struggle with how to handle him. There was a shift in the 3rd where a Shark player tried to run a pick on Klapka to slow him down before he got to another Shark player who had puck along the boards. It didn’t work at all because Klapka literally bowled through the first guy and then gave a crushing hit to the second guy. What’s crazy is the exact same thing happened again on that same shift. That’s not supposed to work when NHL players run a pick like that. Love how his game is developing. His is becoming an impact player in the NHL (literally and figuratively).
-I don’t understand how Tortorella could have had such a problem with Frost… he plays such a solid two-way game, he constantly creates turnovers from the other team and makes so many skilled plays in all 3 zones to settle things down and maintain possession. You would think any defence-first coach would love a centre like that. Their loss I guess.
-Love to see Sharangovich using his shot so much lately. Great to see him scoring big goals for the team late in the season. I have to admit - I had given up hope for him but he’s proving me wrong and is coming through at the most important time of the year.
-Want to give credit to the 4th line. They were solid once again. Love how Farabee played hard on that line as well. He took 2 high sticks to the face and got his face crushed into the boards at the players bench in that game. He battled through it all. No pouting about the line he is on. Just embraced a role and fought hard all night.
No matter what happens on Tuesday… I’m proud of this team. But here’s hoping they find a way to make it to the playoffs. Do not go gentle into that good night.

Im kinda rootin for the Flame bros. I have nothing against the Flames and they have Gilroy native Dustin Wolf so gotta root my the local kid.
Quote:
It is not a bad thing for Dustin Wolf to taste the playoffs
Quote:
Selfishly, it is because we will no doubt have to face that kid when we reach the promised land.
I pray on his downfall but I love the player does that make sense? But like also that’s selfish of me and I have a soft spot for the kid being from the Bay. So I suppose I should be nice and cheer for him until we play him]
Quote:
Wolf is so good man. The game last week and tonight as well.
Forgot to Tank
Quote:
what is this team??
Quote:
Gregor showed up, thankfully this time to late

This can't be. I was assured by allegedly reputable sources that he's a smurf scrub loser.

For a team that is fighting desperately for its playoff life, getting outshot by the worst team in the league 11-1 (and scored on) in the first 5 minutes isn't a good sign.
Quote:
Calgary fans, start puckering
Quote:
When’s the last time the Sharks got 11 shots on goal in 5 minutes? Love the energy the boys are playing with today. Putting a young stud like Wolf to the test today.

Wait, we're allowed to clear pucks from the zone?
Quote:
80 games in, simple plays like that shouldn't be happening
Quote:
To be clear you mean we shouldn't be making simple plays to clear pucks from the zone, right?
Quote:
I thought, "wouldn't it be great to essentially end the Flames season?" And then I remembered how tremendously bad this team is...
Quote:
The Sharks really need to figure out the whole clear-the-zone thing in the offseason, because this is getting ridiculous.
Quote:
That was an absolutely awful shift from Will Smith
Quote:
Will Smith, dude, play the puck 2 feet from clearing with a tad of effort
Quote:
That was a bad play by Smith, should have just skated the puck out instead of turning back in to keep possession.
Quote:
Smith can't take care of the puck tonight... he had time to make a play there didn't need to panic with it
Quote:
One of those sequences where you can feel a goal against coming well before it happens.
Klapper from Kadri!
Quote:
Henry Turd strikes again
Quote:
Thrun is just so far from an NHL caliber defenseman. Rough to watch. Such a bad skater. It's like watching squirts watching him constantly have to skate forward to retreat when the other team is advancing the puck because his skating is so bad. If Sharks enter next season with Thrun in the starting 6 defenseman then we are in for another long year.
Quote:
Please get rid of Thrun
Quote:
Comical by Thrun
Quote:
Again, Thrun is probably the most disappointing player of the season for me given my desire for him to take a step forward.
Probably playing his final games as a Shark
Quote:
Henry Thrun is f***ing hilarious. Hilariously awful.
Quote:
Thrun is so bad. Haha, and Drew somehow focuses on others for the post goal analysis
Quote:
Well that wasn't a great sequence.
edit: Thrun with that really awkward missed hit but what was Dellandrea doing there?
Quote:
Holy crap Klapka is a freaking big dude
Quote:
Just looked him up, 6’8” 240?
He made Celebrini look like a peewee
Quote:
I saw him at a Cuda game once and he looked like he was 7'4 lmfao
YEGOOOOOOOOOOOOOR

Backhand passes between the faceoff dot in our zone seems like a very successful play.
Quote:
At least the Sharks are consistent to the bitter end.
Quote:
that was some terrible hockeying.
Quote:
but it was consistently terrible hockeying
Quote:
The coach needs to remind the guys that we no longer have to tank.
Scoronato!
Quote:
Oh Jesus Christ Thrun figure it out man
Quote:
Not sure if he just needs a change of scenery or what but man he’s just gotten worse as the seasons progressed sadly
Quote:
Really liked Thrun backing away to give them a better shot. Officially on the Thrun hate train now.

the #### are we doing behind our own net holy ####
Quote:
That coronato goal was sick, give him credit. He's a righty and accepted that pass with his left leg. That pass was no where near his tape
Quote:
Last three goals, I get up and we get scored against.
Quote:
This team can be accused of Tanking for a better draft pick, but they really do look bad. I mean it's fun to see Celebrini and Smith and Calgary is playing desperate, but I don't think the Sharks can help it being bad. I really hope next year they show improvement to being good.

Sharks gonna lose every game 4-2 from here on out after I stopped competing in the SNOG aren’t they…

How many empty net goals have the Sharks given up this season? They must lead the league in that category by a wide margin. I wonder what Mack's +- would be if you take away the empty net goals. I think the Sharks have only scored a couple of goals with their net empty and have given up like 30+.
Quote:
Well on the bright side, at least we can f*** over the Blues.
Quote:
I just can't understand how dominant you can be for the first 10 minutes and then completely flat footed for the next 50. It's so frustrating.

Will this be back to back years where the Sharks #### our playoffs?

Cmon Sharks. Kill their dreams like you killed ours. Let us breathe and unclench.
Quote:
I really don’t like the idea of a do or die game against Utah considering how we usually perform against them. Sharks could save all of us a heart attack tonight. Why must this team make things as dramatic and difficult as possible?

As a blues fan. Please beat the flames, you guys can be a terror for the blues for the next 5-10 years.

Could you do us a solid and beat them plz.
PS I miss Barbashev

Hey guys! Blues fan here., just wanted to say I’m rooting hard for you guys tonight! Rooting for you guys to win and a macklin hat trick! Beat the flames!!
Quote:
Sharks. please. Win this game and I’ll maybe forget the hand pass in 2019 or playing spoiler to us for years (i won’t)
Quote:
These Sharks are basically entirely removed from any version of them that we hated, right? I'm not going to hold Joe's antics against Celebrini just because of the jersey. He's not a Hawk or a Red Wing, after all...
Quote:
I will personally donate a lifetime of milk and cookies to Celebrini and Smith

Cmon sharks you owe us for the hand pass bull####

If the Sharks get the next goal in the 3rd I will feel like Charlie Brown lining up to kick the football

Sharks really showing what it takes to lose 50 games in an NHL season tonight.

Looks like I’ll continue hating the Sharks

Imagine putting your hopes in the San Jose Sharks

And the cycle of absolutely nobody helping the Blues continues.
Quote:
Joked with my dad a couple weeks ago that somehow our season was going to come down to our last game against Utah, who has typically owned us. Things sure do have a funny way of playing out.
Welp, Utah ends this season with 4 games in 6 days, including back-to-back with Nashville and then us. Hopefully they are worn out and looking for the season to end. Seems like they are all healthy, although, they've been riding the same goalie since February. Got to find a way.
Quote:
The Blues don't deserve to be in the playoffs if they can't beat a team that's out of contention in their final game of the season to secure a playoff spot. It's that simple.
Quote:
The Sharks had to give juuuuuust a little bit of hope, huh? Watching Flames games in the 3rd period has been a real downer for the last month or so!
And I’ll Whisper Back, “No”
Quote:
Wild fan! Hope you guys get the win!
Quote:
Just so you know, everyone in Minnesota is going to be watching this game tonight. LFG Sharks!
Celebrini > Bedard.. and it’s not even close.
Quote:
Hi Sharks, can you please win tonight in at least OT so we (the Wild) Clinch? thank you
Quote:
Wild fan here, pls lock it in tonight I am begging
Quote:
I shut it off but 5 minutes into the game the shot attempts were like 18-1 , flames were doing their best wild impression lol
Quote:
Not gonna get any help from the Sharks. We just need to take care of business on Tuesday.
Quote:
Calgary getting away with everything in their game and get 2 power plays to get momentum when they have none. NHL trying to get another Canadian team in…

This is going perfect. Now we need the blues to lose the next game and the flames to win the next two.

Wolf is a maniac. Holy ####

Go flames I want you in the playoffs instead of the blues

Believe it or not I actually would rather Calgary get in this year than the blues. I hate the blues so much since that offer sheet. Hope you pull it off flames.

for the first time go flames send more canada teams to the playoffs and make the blues sweat

Checked out the highlights all the way from China - friggin amazing effort by the Flames!! You gotta think the Blues are going to be gripping their sticks in their next game with the Flames breathing down their necks
Edit - Woah, even Oilers fans are cheering for the Flames to make it?! Yeah, hopefully it happens and the Flames get a chance to make those fans regret hoping the Flames get in
