Remember that time we were supposed to annex Turks & Caicos? That would have been cool.
Or that time Iceland wanted to use the Canadian Dollar? That would have been neat.

I didn’t say I find it annoying, and I’m polite. If I really found them annoying I’d put up a “No Soliciting” sign. The barrage of Driveway coating and Pesticide companies that are a few weeks from showing up have me tempted, but not what your wife is doing. I’m just saying I’ve never had anyone bring me information I needed, or didn’t already have.

I’ve never had duct cleaning come to the door. They phone and then make rude insinuations about my mother when I ask to speak to their managers.

I was talking about cold-calling in general not just door-to-door.

Every democracy does this. Like, literally, every candidate. From JFK, to Obama, to AOC (her worn out shoes from canvassing are in the Smithsonian, I believe).
You mostly get closed doors, but that doesn't mean it's fruitless and it is a part of the responsibility of engaging in our democracy
It's also one of many tactics. She has spent hours on the phone. Mostly gets 'no thank yous,' but also gets people willing to share, talk and engage. On the phones she talks to people from across Canada. She's learned a lot about the concerns of people who work in auto manufacturing in Ontario, for example, which has forced her to learn the platforms of both parties on that front so she can speak with them on the issues. Really healthy for East and West Canadians to engage in this way.
I'm really proud of her and I think you guys that think what she is doing is 'annoying' are total losers. She is trying to help Canada.

I mean, someone coming to your house and interrupting you to try and convince you to share their beliefs is sort of objectively annoying.
I'm not saying buddy should have been rude/threatening to her at all - that's a garbage person acting like garbage. But by canvassing for anything you've decided that what you're doing is worth interrupting people for.

I’m thinking of canvassing my neighborhood to convince people that cilantro is the best spice in the world. For the good of our cilantro growing industry which in turn makes me a patriot of Canada. Or……I could also just fata off.
Ps I love cilantro

I like cilantro, but I think disliking the taste is actually genetic.
Probably harder to talk people out of that than their politics or religion...

I agree on religion and people trying to sell you something. It is different with politics. We are part of a society and we should all participate in the conversation about how our country/city/province should be run. These people believe that so much they are willing to literally com to your doorstep to try to engage you in this conversation. I think it is important for democracy and society.
I am sorry this happened to your wife Sliver. Its too bad we don't know specifically which house this happened at...
Landman. Thumpers. Sandbox. Enough said.

Family of 4 - two hate it and two are indifferent. Nobody loves it though.
I don’t think it adds anything, like the same way nobody would be disappointed if there was no parsley on a dish.

For me it’s more similar to squeezing fresh lime on something. Makes it pop and tastes so fresh.
