Totally. Most of them make predictions based on personal biases/closet fandom, which is what you'd expect from the common fan but you would hope for better from talking heads that get regular TV time.
Picking the oilers each and every year despite their track record of choking and having an incompetent brain trust at the top that undervalues defense and can't scout a proper goalie to save its life. Oilers button! Oilers button! You might as well put monkeys in suits at this point if you want the current quality of analysis for cheaper.
While prone to some of his own biases, Scorp is brighter than most analysts you get on TV. So long as it doesn't involve one of his random, obscure hockey crushes.

There is a large group of posters on here who don't care what you get right, they only care if you get something wrong. They just coincidentally are the same toxic morons who are only happy when the team is not good.

Well of course they’re going to say oilers, it’s about entertainment not accuracy. No insider is going to say Ottawa because it isn’t the “sexy” pick like Edmonton would be.
I’ll give you that predicting the flames as a 90 point team was good

Yeah it is a 10 tweet thread but it needed editing.
For example, he writes:
"Even with a playoff spot dimly in their sights, the Flames should be more concerned with ensuring their top young players get into meaningful games. But none of this is going to matter if they can't get that elite 1C and those elite wingers that win you Cups."
How can you ensure your top young players get 'meaningful' games if this team dumped all its vets as advocated earlier in the thread? They'd be well outside of the playoffs, similar to a Seattle. When was the last time Seattle played a 'meaningful' game? And if you truly want to tank a la San Jose, when was the last time their kids played a 'meaningful' game?
We're also told we can't be finishing 9th again next year. Ok, how? Dump everyone I presume. But then again if that's the case how do the players get 'meaningful' games when you're emulating the Sharks season?
It's just hard to read when the thread's internal reasoning eats itself.
The thread should just be 1 tweet that says: 'I want to watch rookies play in the NHL and I expect them to lose which will get us a first overall*.'
*1/4 of the time.

There's simply no way Flames ever get that elite 1c unless they strike the jackpot with a later pick. They'll never be bad enough to draft first overall. I don't know why we talk about that as if it is a possibility. Conroy has his marching orders, and there is no mention of tanking in the instructions.

Remember that the broadcast on SN360 will be "Harvey's Mountain Classic" where they will use the player and puck tracking system to generate a live animated version of the game.
Brendan Parker and Meaghan Mikkelson will provide the commentary.

This is a pretty lame argument. Then you need luck to draft or trade for star players, like with Gaudreau. Because no one saw them being that good. The top draft picks always project as better players.
And even drafting well isn't enough, the organization has to be good, case in point Edmonton, Buffalo. Doesn't matter how much talent you get if the management is rotten.

Very true.
But I havent seen any evidence at the moment that the Management is Rotten in Calgary? Right now they're doing exactly what we as fans want.
They're competing. Turning lead into Gold and over-achieving.
I think they're doing pretty well.
But I'd also contend that we need a home-run. We need to draft a game-breaker.

A few of them.
Flames management seem to think you can free agent and trade your way out of this mess of 30 plus year olds leading the team.
There is no hybrid approach to this thing. But this is a discussion for once the season is done.
#### up the Sharks tonight.

Oh I'm not saying the management is rotten in Calgary. Although not sure what role the owner plays, I don't think it helps if he's disinterested. The point was that even if you get game breakers it doesn't guarantee anything, sometimes people argue that teams that have had the talent and high picks still haven't won implying it doesn't matter if you draft high. I don't think that's true. Drafting high just makes it more probable you get elite talent.
The Flames need game breakers 100%. The team isn't going anywhere unless that happens.

No, I did hope they would eventually crash so that they could have a high pick. But that didn't happen so on the positive side you have a better culture (I suppose). They need game breaking talent desperately and I think it's the draft where you have the best chance of getting it.

The culture thing is such BS. Boston talks about culture and haven't won #### since 2010.
You win when you when, when you have superstars to take you. You know that well with Barkov, CHucky etc.
