Baseball is cruel. If this was the summer this would be a runaway for the Jays. But yet. Here we are. A 1 run game.

Ha. Like come on. Orioles have like 2 balls out of the infield and they're both home runs.

Jays will have to score more than 3 runs, again, to win. Almost half the game to go.

Yeah. That was an at-bat where you probably should have done the two strike approach from the first pitch. He didnt need to crush it - a bloop single scores straw from third easily.

Francis is a guy who’s either unhittable or eminently hittable. He’s got some smoke and mirrors with his stuff but when the smoke and mirrors aren’t working, he can get crushed. Regardless, he’s a really, really good fifth starter. If he can regularly give them 5+ innings with 2-3 earned runs given up, he’s doing his job.

I really like Francis, but maybe they need to take him out after the first homer. I wonder if the deception part of his game means he's a pitcher where more times through the order gives the hitters more information and an advantage.

Like you say though if he does 4-5 no-hit innings instead of 7-8 every start that's still a great outcome.

Francis has the second best ERA in the majors since August of last year. Every pitcher will get knocked around once in a while.

Vladdy hitting into double plays and killing momentum with bad base running is classic Vlad. In tight games, it would be nice if he would come up with a big hit/HR in key situations.

For sure. It's too bad Francis has that stat line, as he pitched better than it suggests, imo.

It's just weird that the first hit he gives up after many no-hit innings seems to often be a homer.
