I do wonder if the premise can be sustained for a fourth season, though, without starting to feel formulaic. And you’d think an ultra-exclusive hotel chain where so many people have met violent ends would start to get a bad reputation.

I liked it but the ending has some poorly written stuff in it, Imo.

Started The Pitt last night. 2 episodes in and I'm hooked.

Loving The Pitt! We're through 10 or 11 episodes. Fantastic, gripping TV.

This show is amazing. Seriously though, if you have Noah Wyler and John Wells then it will have that ER feel. But to me this is just better and I was a big ER fan. Is it wrong that when I’m explaining the show to others that I just call him Carter?? Lol

Funny, these are my exact thoughts about Severance.

I refer to him as Carter while my wife and I are watching the episodes. its great TV. different era (post the Prestige TV revolution) than ER, I think both are great and it is a very unusual circumstance to have Wyle just slip into a drama with a similar setting 20 odd years later- but it feels comfortable but different and not gimmicky which I wasn't necessarily predicting

Severance is a mystery box show like Lost which will have an expiry date long before the last episode as people tend to get frustrated when they invest time into storylines that end up unresolved.

The ending to 1923 was poor. Ruined what I thought was an excellent series.
I could go on, really disappointed.

I figure at some point people will have watched enoguh Sheridan shows to realize he's ####ing hack. This isn't prestige TV, it's daytime soaps with more swears and higher production value.

Shows with drawn out mysteries are not inherently bad. I think Severance dances right on the line of drawing out the questions to keep viewers coming back, and just dicking around to extend airtime.
The problem I have is how the people in the show react to the mysteries they encounter. The way the Lumon people talk is grating and the unexplained timeline of the weird mix of modern and analog tech are things I've just had accept as part of the setting. But the Innies and Outies keep running into these obscenely bizarre situations and never seem to question things the way normal people would. Sure Dylan spouts "What the f***?" a lot but besides that, there's a real lack of truly relatable characters for me because I'm yelling at them to ask what the hell is going on, and they mostly just don't, or it's not shown.
At least give me a little bit more of a curious fish out of water so that there's an anchor between our world and theirs. Then you can choose to reveal the mysteries or not, but at least the fish tried to find out.
I also think a lot of scenes were drawn up specifically to be meme-able. This shouldn't really be how memes are created.

Oh I like Severance. The first season was brilliant. For me the 2nd season was merely good, not great due to various issues with the pacing and storytelling. The acting is top notch and levels above Lost.

And yet he wrote Sicario, which is a banging movie.

I'm fully on the Severance train. It's such a high quality show with superb cinematography, great acting, sci-fi mixed with old school, and lots of wtf moments. When a tv show/movie in in sci-fi territory, I don't need it tied to my world at all. There's enough to know it's a human story, within a different arc of time, and that's enough for me.
That being said, I could see others not having that same point of view.

The first episode of the newest season of Game Changer on Dropout was incredible. The three contestants were given a year to complete fifteen challenges. It was like a complete season of Taskmaster condensed into an hour. The amount of creativity and subterfuge on display is insane.

I'm probably a weirdo, but I thought that movie was really overrated, but I always chalked that up to perhaps my mood when I watched it. I didn't know until few weeks ago he wrote it, so I'm gonna have to re-evaluate my original theory that it really is overrated and maybe watch it again.
Did you know he's also the horse broker arsehole in Yellowstone? That blew my mind.

If there are any Anime fans on here, Frieren: Beyond the Last Journey is phenomenal. Recently took the top spot on MAL from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and, imo, is worth the rating. First season is on Crunchyroll.

I'm not entirely certain how much of this was in English.

I'm over them now because they all feel the same, but for me his shows are in the same vein as Sons of Anarchy (not just because he's in that too, just the example that comes to mind). They're not that good, I won't applaud the writing or the story, and the characters are about as deep as a kiddie pool.
But it's fun. Shouldn't get any awards, but can be a good time.
That said, it's time to do something different and stop doing a dozen shows at once, the quality nosedives real quick
