I have a question, if the Flames and Wild are tied with a couple minutes left, do the Flames think about pulling the goalie, to try win it in regulation?

now that the Blues are in play I say no...crazy thought though

Imagine they do that and then the Blues lose a game!

No.

They still have to consider STL

Haha what annoys me is we are not getting the joy that other fans are.

If you are a Minny fan the last couple nights (particularly tonight) have been as good as it gets.

I don't know how great I would feel about giving up 7 to the Sharks when they had zero power plays if I was a Wild fan.

Play Zayne!

Colorado threw Makar in to the Playoffs immediately for hos first game. Zayne has better stats than Makar and Quuinn Hughes in Juniors. Well if Makar played another 9 games a year they might be close in goals but not total points and that's with Zayne plying a much higher level of hockey.

Throw the kid in for 4 games and let him sink or swim .

I’ve enjoyed the season
It’s had ups and downs but on the whole it’s been a fun one

It is not a rule of the game. It is a rule of the league.

Nothing in the section you cited says that the commissioner has the power to determine the playoff format as he sees fit.

Hence why the lost point is so costly. A winout is now an absolute must, whereas before the Flames could sneak an OT loss somewhere. That's why their odds just got much longer.

To say the playoffs were unlikely before and unlikely now therefore basically the same, is quite disingenuous.

That doesn't knock their chances in half like you said...I mean if the Flames won in regulation tonight I would still be hoping for 4-0 not 3-0-1
Obviously a win is better, the math doesnt change much, other posters have said the same but you can disagree all you like we still live in a free country for now. They need Friday in regulation anyway.

So if they win Friday its now now 3-0 required rather than 2-0-1 had they pulled it off tonight

Average goaltending would’ve done the trick.
My honest opinion, he was stealing it up until the 3 late goals against. So if he shuts the door and it's a 3-1 win, it's another signature Wolf performance, and a stolen game considering you shouldn't win games where you go 0/6 on the powerplay.

I didn't say their odds were cut in half, I was just throwing out a rash example to illustrate a concept. It doesn't matter how many people disagree with me, I know how much this lost point hurts their chances. One fewer point means there are far fewer permutations of upcoming results that get the Flames into the playoffs.

We have almost no talent, and it shows in every overtime.

We are one elite goalie away from being right with the Sharks in the standings. I don't know why they don't play the kids, we aren't making the playoffs.

This organization is so frustrating sometimes.

The Flames were outshooting and outplaying the Ducks badly for most of the game. I wouldn't call it a steal, just a goalie doing what they should.

Don't get me wrong......he's been unreal this season, like found money. Tonight he was just average, not other worldly. So when he lets in one or two goals we come to expect him to stop it feels like a letdown. But he's the team's MVP this season, it's just bad timing, not much else. Just the way it goes.

We won't remember this game at all when he leads the Flames to a Cup in 5 years

It is not like Wolf was letting in muffins. These were point blank chances against talented players who can score.

It is crazy to me to blame Wolf for anything, when we are right there with the Sharks in the standings if we replace him with almost any goalie in the league.
