Here is hoping NJ and Fla lose tonight. I would like to solidify 18 and 22.

I've never wavered from that idea. If it wasn't for the Schaefer thing I'd say it was a lock he'd go top 3. Misa, Schaefer and Hagens and Martone will make things interesting in the top 5.
Personally I'd call it:
1. Misa
2. Hagens
3. Frondell
4. Martone
5. Schaefer

Schaefer will go 1 or 2 IMO
I think Hagens will drop, maybe even out of the top 5

Also that just factors in point production, not play away from the puck, foot speed etc.
Barkov is 6'3, Frondell is 6'0. Not saying Frondel couldn't be a Barkov, but Barkov is much more then just NHLE/points.
I do like Frondell, just saying to look at NHLe and conpare to Barkov doesnt paint the whole picture.

Oh I know Schaefer has an inflated value due to the lack of available D. My list is solely based on my perspective, not on what will happen.

Personally, I’ve never found value in Bader’s model.

You think people are high on Schaefer because the other D's aren't as good?

It would be too much work to weed through the historical player cards to see which comparisons and predictions panned out and which didn't, and to come to some conclusion about the usefulness of that particular tool.
I do think he is a smart guy and knows a lot about hockey and statistics though. I've seen him on podcast and stuff, and he always seems to be cool and knowledgeable, and acknowledges that there are other factors (eye test and character) that lead to a player being successful (or not), which can't be reflected in his model. He seems pretty humble about it.
Keep in mind that the player card comparisons on Twitter is mostly just click bait material to advertise his services, which if you believe the testimonials, people working in the NHL have used in the past.

I don't think his value is inflated at all, he's legit elite prospect.

Hagens has been playing against older college guys on the 2nd line, as older players (Leonard, Perrault) got the premium ice time.
I think his value has not changed.
He's generally been considered not in the top 2 for some time. SOme of the others have raised during the season.
If Chicago falls to #3, I could see them taking the US guy, assuming Schaefer and Misa go as expected.

No one model, scout or list tells you everything but I enjoy seeing what difference sources provide including to compare and contrast
But of course his model has been right. And it has been wrong. That’s what models do.

I’ve actually found that his model can be quite accurate, particularly around guys who won’t make the NHL.
An example of someone his model was high on from the start was Lane Hutson.

Not entirely, no. It's a small part of the equation, how can it not be?
The kid has had absolutely zero gp since the WJC and somehow has risen in the rankings, how else do you make that make sense other than the lack of a better option.
Look, I think Schaefer is a legit top.....6 or 7 prospect in this draft. He's a good player but his inflation to the top of the draft rankings is ridiculous. There's nothing to back it up other than bullish attitudes from scouts.
Youre telling me Schaefer is better than the top performing draft eligibles this year without playing a single game post WJC?
I'd be mighty insulted if I were Misa or Hagens or Martone or Frondell (who incidentally got over his own serious injuries to earn his draft stock).
I'm still of the opinion Schaefer's draft stock is a market manipulation from Canadian hockey. Even as a great D prospect, theres no player that's missed 2/3rds of his draft season and RISEN to top draft pick. It reeks of preferential treatment.

Agreed. Personally, I'll be astonished if anyone actually takes a defenseman who played 17 games over a center who scored 134 points.

There must be a reason why he is still the consensus #1.

Combination of size, speed and how quickly he improved from last year to this year.
Also, its across the board as a consensus guy from all the expert websites. Including Bob McKenzie's list.
