I was hoping that the Header would say
"This game don't mean ##### for the Ducks"

Happy birthday Cheese! If the Flames goalsxnumber of players who see the ice for the Flames is greater than your age. Flames win.

And what Anaheim game would be complete without a plea?

Help us Jobu! We bring cigars and rum!

I know it's a long shot but I still would like to see Parekh play today.

Which to me is the "can I actually get my foot / ankle / leg into my skate and reasonably play in this game tonight" pre-game test.

Weegar I think has a lower body injury too - but don't think it's to the extent where Andersson is yet.
Yeah neither of them have that oomph in their shots either which makes me suspect a LBI

I understand why they are battling through it to try to help the team to the playoffs but I do wish the team would lean more towards shutting down injured players during the season. I know lots of players do this but after what happened with Monahan, I’m in the camp that having players play through injury in the regular season is rarely the right call. Look how much better Backlund has looked since taking the time to recover from whatever injury was bothering him.

I think this year it’s the pressure to just make the playoffs. If they do, it’s a successful season even if they lose in the first round considering the roster.

But the whole idea was young players are supposed to get more opportunities. Injuries are what opens up spots for young players to show their stuff. Win or lose, they can try to give players that opportunity and see what they are. This was a year to do that.

It would be most desirable to see the Flames prevail with a favourable outcome.

Well at least they better be throwing out that excuse out there for the other teams. Otherwise his trade value is at an all time low.

Whats the difference there? 2 weeks? They may be tired and they're definitely hurt but I'm not sure its that much worse than how they were for that game even though they did lose Zary against Dallas.

That game against San Jose is one where you need to impose your game early and suffocate them. They didn't. They had to pull it out of the fire.

Its not a harsh take, its just my eye test. We'll see tonight how they start.
Are you under the impression that teams should be able to simply turn on their A game whenever they want? If that were true, would not every team simply turn it on every game?

It is not controllable. That is not how sports works. That's why you play the games instead of simply awarding the better-team-on-paper the points.

I can't remember the last time I watched a team show more heart, for as long, as we've watched these guys show it. And yet we have fans complaining. It's just astounding.

I'm far from the only one who thought they gave a poor effort to start in San Jose. Pretty much every media member covering the Flames would agree.

And yes I think you can choose to start the game aggressively. Might not last that way but you control your effort from puck drop. IMO.

I call it a win win provided it doesn't go to OT.

Blues win, more Oiler tears at a great time of year for that (even with the injuries, losing is losing and makes the crew that is playing discouraged in themselves, that they NEED those other guys in their team or THEY suck).

Plus tiny (but funny) chance Oilers lose out and we catch them and kick them out. The Apr 17 game becomes a preview of the Rd 1 series.

Oilers win, bleh but keep the very small chances of catching STL.

No 3 pointer keeps both fain hopes for the Flames caching one alive. Besides that, watching the Oilers lose is more fun.

I do recall more 2-3 weeks ago when STL, CGY (and VAN and UTA) were closer all vying for 1 spot, looking ahead at that time at this EDM vs STL game on Apr 9 lamenting I may have to hope for Oilers win. That is not really case anymore.

I've always questioned the word "effort" in this case.

I don't think we have any case to suggest the Flames ever mail it in.

But there is a huge difference between trying as hard as you can and being ready to go to war, on your toes kind of thing.

That is hard to produce 82 times a season, especially when you're wearing down.

If Jobu helps us get the victory tonight AND Minnesota loses at home to San Jose, I will offer a sacrifice.

I would love to see the youth movement carry the Flames to victories as the season winds down to give management confidence to continue to open up opportunities next season. Cheering on Coronato, Klapka, and Frost to score timely goals to win over the Ducks, Go Flames!

I think the Sharks who have had nothing to play for since October were excited about the chance to eliminate a division rival that has beaten them for fun of late

two years ago the Crosby/Malkin Pens lost a home game to the Bedard tanking Hawks that was the difference between them or the Panthers making the playoffs. Crosby can't get his team up for games? Nope, its just these guys are all professionals.
