If I understand my euphemisms correctly, I believe 'laying down the specs' means making a proposition, 'a class of navel vessels' means a couple hotties, a 'year phase' is equivelent to a beer, and 'laying down the keel', obviously, means getting the hottie (or hotties, if it's a whole class of them) into your bed. Such as:

"I was laying down the specs on this navel vessel last night, and then the rest of the class showed up and I needed a five year phase to get her out of the bar, and I started laying down the keel in the back seat of my car, but my funding got cut before I could get her fitted for torpedoes."

Oh yeah, Rickards White is great. They've got it a the Barley Mill along with Hoegaarden, so you can get a pint of each and see how they compare.

I had it with a lemon because the bar didn't have anything else. Just disgusting. I'll have to try it with an orange sometime though. I love Rickards Red so White will get a second chance by me.

I had it at The Den during the school year on pitcher night....bunch of us tried it and we all had worse hangovers than usual the next morning...it was good if I remember correctly though. I'll have to try it again sometime...

Rickards Red was my staple for Thursden

Welll they had Rickards White on tap and on special at Don Cherry's a few weeks ago...so I proceeded to drink a whole bunch. At first they are pretty good but after awhile with that orange, I found it got sickening.

I suggest drinking it without the orange but it wouldn't be my #1 choice...although at $2.50 a pint, I would have tried anything! LOL

The reason it is called white is not because of it's color but I think because of the "head".... whiter in color or something along that lines.

The beer itself is darker then grasshopper... but lighter then Trad.

it's pretty tasty on a patio on a hot day. it's sort of like Hoegarden but without the skunky aftertaste.

WDF?

I like it. Great summer beer. When the hell are they going to sell it in the stores though?

I was able to buy a six pack of Rickards White in Montreal in June, but haven't seen the six packs in Calgary yet.

Also, Molson/Coors sell a beer called "Blue Moon" in the US. I just had it again this weekend, and can say without doubt, it is completely the same beer as Rickards White. It was selling for $10 US a dozen, always funny when local products are half the price when purchased abroad.

Oddly enough, Blue Moon seems to fair a bit better with the Ratebeer.com folks, but that could be a US/Canada thing.

I got a few bottles in the multi-pack as described above. Its a pretty good beer...I usually prefer darker beers though and I just had to try it.

I've had it a few times. Nothing that special to me. I don't really like that style of beer though.

I prefer Hoegaarden, but Rickards White isn't a bad beer for a hot day. It is pretty easy to drink, but needed its taste to be a bit stronger.

6/10

Everyone had been telling me how amazing Rickards White was, so when I saw that they had it on tap at Broken City the other day, I decided to finally try it.

HATED IT.

However, my glass seemed kinda dirty and something smelled funky, so it is entirely possible that I wasn't getting the best possible first time experience with it... so maybe I'll try it again somewhere else.

I tried it the other day. Big fan of Hoegarrden so I figured I'd like the white.

It's not bad, but it is in desperate need of a citris flavor addition. Otherwise it just tastes incomplete. I recommend a spash of real lime juice. Not much though. Whatever you do, don't put a lemon in it. Why do people put lemon in their beer?

I agree, Rickards White is especially disgusting with lemon in it.

It is a hot weather beer IMO, any other time it tastes 'off'.
