Coors Light is yuck, but it is better than all these unfiltered IPAs.

Fun fact and to this very point: Stella Artois used to be sold in McDonalds in Belgium.

Stella is a great beer because its gross and it self limits because of its grossness and you don't wake up feeling gross.

The worst part of all the laid off engineers is the proliferation of microbreweries in Calgary selling gross IPA's because its the cheapest fastest beer to make. You so clever engineer.
Used to be lots of really good Belgian beers on the shelves.

The heineken 0 Carb beer is probably the best 0 carb version i've had, though.

I also like that 1/10 can of canadian you get where they've roasted the barley just a little bit more and it actually has taste.

I've stopped drinking recently and really don't miss it. May still have one or two beers with my Dad once a month, but otherwise I just don't need it. I had convinced myself for so long that I loved it but it does no more for me taste wise than a can of sparkling water.

I'm an Alex Keith's IPA guy myself. Thats my 'Go-To.'

Dont tell me its not a real IPA, I am well aware of that and have made my peace with it as most 'Real IPAs' are a disgusting mess.

That being said, IMO the best beer in the world is Belgian. Not the run-of-mill stuff, but the specialty stuff. So good! Its also harder to find and more expensive, but if you want a good beer? Go Belgian.

And I say that as someone of German heritage.

I like German beer, but more in a...'its smooth, crisp, refreshing and you can drink it all day' kind of way.

Real, good Belgian beer is art though, nearly every country has it's 'tourist' beer.

Holland - Heineken
Belgium - Stella
Australia - Fosters

The list could go on and on, but when I was in Belgium...it'll take something special for me to consider other beers better than those.

I haven't drank beer for a long time, but I miss the excitement learning the bar had Hoegaarden on tap.

There are always a lot of sheeple in Costco. People enter and immediately follow the same general path through the store and end up at the same checkouts at the far end of the building. I find often if you enter and then hightail it to the end and work your way back, it can actually be a lot quicker to get through. The checkouts closest to the entrance tend to have fewer people in line, while the ones at the end get line-ups right into the aisles because that is where most people finish.

Some days it doesn't seem to matter, but it seems to work often. An yeah, I get that people going against traffic in big retail stores like that bring their level of annoyance to others. There is just no getting around being an in-the-way-person at all when you are there.

I wouldn't say it's yuck. IPA's and strong beers can be yuck. Coors Light is just watered down beer for people that are just getting into beer and haven't acquired a taste for stronger beers.

All my cousins live in Europe, Stella is widely referred to as "wife beater" over there.

I don’t drink beer very often but when I do it’s got to be dark beer. All these light beers look, and taste, like some other drunk has pissed in the bottle.

It got bought by Molson’s some time ago. Nothing positive ever comes after an acquisition. Probably changed the formulation to take advantage of whatever ingredient purchasing made more economic sense.

A Molson rep told a friend Rickard’s Red is basically Canadian with food colouring.

I believe Rickard's has always been a Molson product.

Molson's, along with many others, discovered in the late 90's methods of halving their brewing time, which saves a lot of money. Unfortunately it does not have the same taste. So any company they buy eventually goes that way, too. If you noticed that you used to enjoy a lot of Canadian beers, and now find them all pretty mediocre, that's probably why.

And then a lot of small breweries in the last 15 years wanted to do EVEN LESS brew time… so the invention of almost novelty levels of hops started getting popular.

Hmm. I thought it was an independent brewery when I first discovered it in the late 90s.
