So far from policy point of view I’m mixed on the Liberals. But right now, we need a grown up leading Canada, and there is only one person in this election who is a grown up, and that’s Mark Carney. I want to see a change in how this country is run. I think we’ve had too many years of childish behaviour and I want it to stop.
Carney has said how strong he believes Canada is and how much it can do for itself. I want that kind of mentality - not the constant barrage of telling me how broken we are without any sense of what Canadians can do.
I want Carney to do what he advocates in his book. I want to see UBI, I want workers to be taken care of. I want media that is responsible and presents facts as they are. I want the wealthy to contribute what they can to make society better not just themselves. I want people to be kind, empathetic, thoughtful and inclusive.
I want the world to stop it with all of this stupid bull#### and get back to noticeably improving people’s lives.

I actually like that answer. Outside saying the question is false it’s really solid. What he should have said is the assertion that we are close with Trump is false but that’s splitting hairs.
Then he uses the Donald Trump preference but doesn’t stop there, he ties the preference to his main line of attack which is the liberals put us in a position to be victimized by the states so you need a conservative government instead.
Nothing wrong with that answer.

It is just a weird answer because Trump has stated that his preference is that Pollievre wins.

Trump does not want Carney to win. That’s just a silly, childish game.

Is this recent or more historical? You had the Trump saying Carney is weak and he would way rather negotiate against them and you had Smith saying a conservative government would be more closely aligned with Trump but I don’t recall Trump saying he wanted PP.
But if we say he was endorsing him (and we know in reality he’d prefer PP) PPs answer still makes sense. His greatest weekness right now is being perceived as a Trump lacky, there is a quote from Trump who he’d prefer, so you pound that point along with the economic message. It’s the correct strategy to deal with the issue.

Yeah, this isn’t some shocking revelation. Around 30 per cent of Albertans have always blamed everything on Ottawa. It’s true today, it was true 20 years ago, it was true 40 years ago. It’s just part of the culture and upbringing of some Albertans. Current events have very little influence on such ingrained attitudes.
And even that 3 in 10 number is mostly venting. If separation was on the table in a tangible way - lose Canadian citizenship, watch half the companies and hordes of skilled workers leave the province, economic turmoil and uncertainty, the defiance of indigenous groups and legal battles over the lands and resource they have the rights to - few of them would have the stomach to see it through.

I know this place is an echo chamber for left leaning folks but I just don't get the love for Carney. The guy weaseled out of paying billions in taxes that would help this country's services. People here dog Edwards for moving out of Canada to avoid taxes and asking for tax handouts but don him in Liberal attire and he's all of a sudden got Canadian's best interested in mind? Kind of rubs me the wrong way. Seems like a really greasy guy to me and maybe he's the best of the alternatives but that just goes to show how sad a political state we are in today.

Carney is an actual expert on important stuff. He speaks in full sentences. He doesn’t pander to the ignorance and resentments of low-information voters.
Basically, he’s an adult in the room at a time when many politicians just parrot the worst takes their party’s base spout on social media.

It’s really that simple for me. If the conservatives had anything close to his demeanour I’d vote for them 100%.

You make it sound like he's a billionaire avoiding paying his own taxes. That's not what happened. He worked for a company, and did his job within the rule of the law for that company. Ultimately, yes he benefited by being payed for his work, but it wasn't a personal decision.I don't think your Edwards analogy fits at all, so perhaps that's where you are struggling.
Ultimately though, he is an incredibly competent person with vast experience, but more than any of that he comes across as truly caring about what is best for Canadians and Canada. So I'm willing to give him a shot at fixing things, vs the guy who says our country is broken, and the only way to fix it is to be a lot less Canadian by doing a lot more of what America does. No thank you.

Edwards moves himself out of Canada, but CNRL, Ensign etc are all atill headquartered here and pay taxes here.
Under Carney's watch Brookfield moved to the US, taking taxes and jobs with it. It isn't obvious to me that's way better than Edwards.
