My guess is not until Varsho is ready. I would have thought Straw would go down, as Varsho replaces his profile, but Straw has been hitting and Schneider hasn't. That's enough time that it gives Schneider a fair shake but realistically if he isn't hitting now getting mostly lefties he's not going to stick.

Could send him down and bring up barger or someone, but I bet they wait because they know they'll need to send someone down when Varsho is healthy anyway, and if you send Schneider down now it makes that choice harder.

Edited to add: Schneider has options left (3 in fact) so sending him down to try and figure out if he can adjust to team's having a book in him might end up helping him and the team.

It's early in the season. I've never been a huge Schneider fan, as fans seem to give him credit because of...his mustache(!!), but it's so early in the season to be giving someone the hook. If they truly believe in him give it to 30 games to see if he can break out. That's the same for anyone currently on the roster. You can't be yanking guys killing their confidence on a very small sample.

First of all, that Moustache is absolutely worth extra credit. And he was responsible for a number of their (very few) early season wins last year so I absolutely want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But "when Varsho comes back" is probably ~30 games in or close to that, given the recent update that he hasn't even started throwing in game type situations yet.

Realistically once Varsho is back someone is going down, and right now based on performance you'd pick Schneider. If he starts to hit they might send down Straw instead.

I agree it makes sense to give someone a full chance (he's only had like a dozen at bats so far) - which is why I said there's no way they send him down now just to bring up Barger or someone like that. There's a change coming with Varsho for sure, might as well hold tight until then. With the number of lefties on the team he will keep getting at-bats as long he's up.

Getting Gimenez and Santander was always going to make it tough for him, because the only defensive spots he plays are 2B and LF.

This is why I can't hardly ####ing watch baseball anymore.

We have the technology to no longer have to watch the umps butcher ball and strike calls yet here we are watching them bend Blue Jay hitters over with their bull ####

Classic.

Gotta think Springer makes that catch without the balaclava.
