Maybe - it's a big jump and it takes time.
Remember these college guys have never even played an NHL pre-season game, let alone a regular season game.
Hopefully he shows really well in practice and gets into a game or two, but this isn't a Gaudreau or Makar level of talent that's going to jump in and make a big impact day 1. He's probably going to need some AHL time.

Yah he will get AHL next season. Having him just around the team is useless in knowing what we have with him, let's see him on the ice. I am not expecting him to make an immediate impact, but we can see what tools he has and his shot and what he can work on.
When Coronato debuted, we saw his deadly shot on display, and he almost scored twice.
This won't hurt his development at all, and we have a few guys who deserve to sit.

Who do you sit? Yegor would be the candidate but has started to turn things.
Lomberg serves a very specific role. Rooney is a center. Klapka would be the obvious choice I guess if you want to have Suniev take a spin on the 4th line I suppose.

False. There is great value in him just being around the team, practicing with them, seeing how they train.
It's not useless for him at all.

Sure...but I'd still rather give Stromgren or even Kerins another look before rushing Suniev into a game.

Sharangovich, Rooney, Klapka, Farabee are all candidates to sit.
Just because we scratch a 4th line doesn't mean he has to play on the 4th line. If we scratch Rooney, Sharangovich can go play 4th line C while Suniev plays wing on the top 3 lines.

How many practices do we even have at this time of the year? The intensity of that is more in camp and early parts of the year.
We can still call those players up, don't we have 3 call ups. Them along with Grushnikov.

Farabee, Pospisil can be benched to make room for Suniev to play with Kadri.

Same tanking crowd that wants to burn it down then wants to play all of the prospects in the NHL before they are ready.
Great that they are able to preach so much patience when showing non at all when it comes to prospect development.

Pretty sure Yegor's had plenty of opportunities to improve his play at this point. A young and upcoming player should get a few more chances than he does with so few games left.

Pospisil has been the "fixer" for this team all season, even if he hasn't produced.
Any line he gets added to suddenly starts to perform better and moves the needle positively.
Very unlucky to not have more points this year and not a guy that should be coming out of the line up at all.

There really isn't much of an argument here if you just take out the extreme views.
I mean who would be against the following ... "once or if the Flames are out of it they should give Suniev a look"
But having a 20 year old 3rd round pick that came the tier II route to NCAA hockey and hasn't been to an NHL training camp even once replace players that are veteran pro hockey players that have been around all season with the team still in the race?
Nutbar.

I think this is one of the more extreme views on the subject so far, ironically.
But having a 20 year old 3rd round pick that came the tier II route to NCAA hockey and hasn't been to an NHL training camp even once hobey baker candidate and contender until mid season injury replace a player s that are veteran pro hockey players that have been around all season but horribly underperforming with the team still in the race?
I lightly modified your statement with other true facts and it seems much less "nutbar"

Pick status shouldn't necessarily matter either if the player is good at what they do or has outpaced projected status to this point, no?
I believe someone else already mentioned that Gabe Perreault has suited up for the Rangers out of college. Thats allowed only because of draft status?

Boston played Patrice Bergeron right away after being a 2nd round pick. Colorado played O'Reilly right away after being a 2nd round pick.
I guess they should have followed the Flames plan of having the prospects skate laps with the great vets in practice because they are not 1st round picks.

Ryan Leonard is playing on the second line for the capitals, the top team in the league. Will probably play there in the playoffs.

Really easy to dismiss an opinion when you label it "extreme".
