Didn't realize Ernie ran right through the stop sign. Ouch.

You can see Straw standing on 2nd as Clement rounds 3rd. Go back and look
Washington has an auto out at 2nd if Clement doesn’t go

Clement was clearly safe but what a dumb unnecessary risk. Expecting to score from second or so is a bit much under the circumstances.

I could only see him on 2B when Ernie was close to home. But if so that opens up even more questions. Did Ernie know that? I'd say no. And then why is the 3B coach putting up the stop sign? And are we sure Straw got to 2nd but didn't step on the bag until he knew Ernie was going home?
Lots of weird stuff on that play.

Talk about a game of inches. Three straight plays where one more inch the Jays way would have led to at least 3 runs scoring. Worst luck imaginable and an incompetent review system.

I guess everyone will ignore THAT STRAW WAS AT 2nd AlREADY as the cutoff man got the ball .
If clement stops - that’s 3 base runners for 2 bases.

Rewind and look at the highlight they showed of Ernie running through the stop sign . Straw is standing there . Touched the base or not is irrelevant - just means the cut off man throws to 1st and the exact same 2nd and 3rd situation with 2 outs

I'm not even drinking but it feels like I'm misremembering stuff now. The outfielder dropped the ball, no? If the cut off man wants to throw to first, great. That means Ernie scores, guys at 2nd and 3rd, one out.

Well not if Clement has stopped which is the whole debate / argument haha
If he stops we have Clement at 3rd. Hienemen between 2nd and 3rd , and Straw at 2nd
The cut off man only throws home if Clement goes . If not he walks over to 2nd and tags Straw as Hienemen goes back to 2nd .
