The best part is that this is absolutely what we all truly felt would happen. We are a boring sine curve. The other teams enjoy the fun of drastic ups and downs. The Calgary Flames get the very odd straggler year up every 15 years, but rarely the deep downs. We are basically on Ativan. Vanilla Ice cream, cream of wheat, tomato soup, Calgary Flames.

You said Montgomery wouldn't come here because the Flames change coaches every 2 years...but he went somewhere they fired a coach 22 games after signing him.

Could have bet my house we would finish between 9-12 and lose our pick. I knew it in my soul that it would happen and so I'm not even upset oddly.

No I didn't.
I didn't make any comment about Montgomery specifically not coming here for that reason. My comment was broader.
Nor would I suggest that's the only factor. There are several reasons why this franchise wouldn't be at the top of the list.
Read what I actually said and if helpful use the quote feature.

Coleman - Last 24 games played, 1 goal, 2 assists, 26.67 GF%, 47.75 xGF%
Backlund - Last 20 games played, 1 goal, 2 assists, 20% GF%, 47.71 xGF%
They really haven't done there jobs well for a while now, and at the most important moments of the season to boot. We needed these guys to step up and lead by example and unfortunately they were unable to do that.

Backlund is clearly hurt.
But Coleman is skating in quicksand too. He's gotta be banged up/hurt too, no? He also is not the same player without a healthy Backlund beside him.
Its a competition for slowest skater/worst moving player the last month between Anderson, Coleman and Backlund. And that is a major problem for the team as they are 3 of the 'safety blanket' players we've had for the last few years.

It’s also a nonsense point to use Bannister as the example when two of St Louis’ past five coaches coached more than 4 seasons.
None of the Flames past five even made it to 3 and only one made it past 2.

The funny part is the 2 worst coaches we have had have lasted the longest in Brent "we gotta play the way!!!" Sutter and Bob Hartley.

I for one didn't share this feeling before the season started, but pretty quickly you could feel things were shaping up to end like this.

There was talk after the 4-nations that Binnington could be on the block, too

I loved Hartley. B Sutter held on too long, but I would have taken another season of Hartley.

I might be wrong but any future 1st round pick we have traded resulted us in missing the playoffs.
Jokinen 1st to Arizona we missed the following year.
Hamonic 1st to NYI we missed the following year.
Monny 1st to Montrealy we are likely to miss the playoffs.
The other 1st's got traded in season or at the draft.
We should probably never trade a future 1st round pick again.

They why play him? He’s a liability.
We got lucky in the SO against COL. in the OT Huska puts Backlund out and the best he could do was slowly skate the puck in and shoot a muffin wrister into the chest of the goalie.

He's not a liability, according to any serious stats you care to mention.

So you're suggesting Gulutzan and Ward are better coaches than those two?

With the Blues historic winning streak, we've lost sight of the fact that the Flames are actually playing pretty good.
Not Blues good, but pretty good.
They certainly are not giving up.

You are right. I have tried to wipe my memory of them. A long list of inept coaches in Calgary.

I was just amazed at how negative most of the fanbase was to the idea. The guy was just sitting there, waiting to get plucked. At a very reasonable price.
