Writer's strike happened at the worst possible time for them.

I want Jonathan Frakes to get in there!!

"Son! In my day we recorded 26 episodes a season! Up hill both ways with Patrick Stewart wielding a whip and Dorn trying to crack jokes while Spiner hid in the corner in the fetal position just praying for it all to stop!! Rain, shine or no script you get in there and you record!!! Now MUSH!!"

The writer's strike was brutal all around. So many good shows totally derailed, and it's hard to pick them back up.

Even a 15 episode season would be welcome. 15 isn't too much to ask for, is it!?

Yup. And it’s been renewed for a 4th season as well, so we’re probably looking at another 2 year gap before we get that one as well. If there’s one thing I hate about the current age of television, it’s the ridiculously long waits between seasons. It’s annoying as hell.

Damn straight! I completely agree.

For Season 4 Anson Mount is going to need one of those walkers with the Tennis balls!

Get in there and start pumping out 26 episode seasons!

I agree- if the show is already renewed especially. Should be shooting season 4 before s3 even airs.

BUT, in today's day and age of reaction media, they have to wait and see how things will be taken in by audiences before risking building on them.

I miss the good old day with 20+ episodes every year. These long gaps really sap the momentum out of shows.

I can't imagine how annoying it would have been if you had to wait 20 months for 'Best of Both Worlds II' instead of just the summer.

I think they just recently started or about to start filming. A few weeks ago Jess Bush had a social post about getting her hair Chapel ready and heading to work.

THere was a lot of filler in those 20 plus episodes though.

And in this day and age, season-ending cliffhangers should be abolished.

You shut your mouth! That 'filler' was all pure gold! We treasure that filler!

As Star Trek fans we just acknowledge that this episode wasn't in the budget, we accept it and we go along for the ride!

Its simply in our nature!

The filler is the f'in point yo! Not everyone they meet is out to blow up the galaxy, or launch an insidious coup on the federation. Only about 1/3.

Also you can't tell me there is still no filler in the SNW seasons we've got so far. Again, the filler is making up some of the best part of this show, there's just not enough. I'm probably good on the klingon K pop but I even thought that was a worthwhile throwback.

No filler when you're cast is that hot.

Patton oswalt appears to be a romulan? That would be interesting. Either that or a very ridgy vulcan.

And Trelane is snapping, which appears to confirm the long speculated "Trelane is a Q" theory. Alternately, they've got a new Q entering the mix much earlier.
