What? Marner is nearly a PPG in the playoffs?

Wait, you said northing about being a superstar playoff performer, you were specifically speaking to "playoff struggles, much like Mitch Marner". Can you explain to me how 50 points in 57 playoff games equals playoff struggles?

I said that I could see him "having his struggles", not "struggling consistently". Marner is 1.12 ppg for career points in the regular season, and is 0.87 ppg in the playoffs- with only 3 playoffs out of 8 at near a point-per-game or above. He has been a regular whipping boy for Leafs fans in the post-season, and manages to disappear- even when he is producing points.
Marner might be an example of a player who is labelled a "superstar" in the regular season, but doesn't produce like a "superstar" in the playoffs.

Tkachuk isn't a superstar in the playoffs either then...
When you have players that played a lot of playoff games in their younger years its easy to write them off as not great in the playoffs
I mean I hate to defend Toronto but look at their playoff matchups in that divison...its been prime Tampa or Boston most of the time
Marner has also outscored Matthews in the playoffs...Leafs will rue the day...rue I tell ya

What do we think the Flames could get for Coleman this summer? He feels like the natural candidate to move with Huberdeau, Coronato, Farabee, Zary, Sharangovich, and Pospisil all needing top-nine ice. I wonder if you could get a high 2nd and a prospect for him.
|
I think the return would be similar to Mangiapane. A 2nd round pick probably gets it done. I could see TBL bringing him back like they did with Gourde and McDonagh.

Marner screwed the pooch last year in the playoffs, with only 3 points in 7 games, but was pretty good from a production standpoint the previous 2, with 22 points in 18 games total. He was well under a ppg in the three post-seasons before that.

I agree, second-rounder. I imagine Conroy keeps a good inventory of who actually wants to be here, and who doesn't. If Coleman actually wants to remain a Flame, I might actually prefer to keep him to usher in the youth coming up the pipeline- he's competitive, and a winner, even if his production is declining.

You move Parekh for him every single time and don't even hesitate. There aren't a lot of guys you'd move Parekh for, but Bedard is easily one of them.
|
And you absolutely blow that trade big time. Let's revisit this in 5 years when Bedard is an 80-90 point player and Parekh is winning Norris trophies. People do not remotely grasp what Parekh has done as a junior. You say Bedard is the most sought after prospect since McDavid, so what? Remember when Shane Wright was projected to be the next McDavid as a 16 year old? How is that turning out? Meanwhile Parekh is doing things as a junior D man that has not been seen since Bobby freakin Orr. That would be such a traditional Flames move, trade a generational young D man for a top line forward.

It's an interesting take but it isn't true. Matthews absolutely loves Toronto.

If the scenario ever came up where Conroy could get Bedard for Parekh (it wouldn't come up) how on gods green earth would there be a zero chance Conroy would entertain the trade idea? Like what the actual ****?

Here, let me put it this way. If age was the same who would rather have? Brayden Point who Bedard looks to project a lot closer to than McDavid or Cal Makar who Parekh might project better than?

Wait. You’re saying that Parekh might be a better prospect than Connor McDavid?
I hate McDavid as much as the next Flames fan, but come on. The Parekh hype is getting out of control
Edit: I feel like I’m misinterpreting what you’re saying here

Ya, I am not saying Parekh will be better than McDavid. I am saying Bedard is closer to Point than to McDavid.
