Meeting up with my friend later for a bite, he says how bout Porch? Cool on a date, but it's 100% Sex & the City vibes in there, the seats are freakin swings lol. It's where I went with my current S.O. on our first date. Why would you want to go there with me, are you trying to get in my pants?

Like the freaking pub is right next door, lots of deals on Sunday, and we can watch sports. Stop being weird and choose a normal place for dudes. This is what happens when a man doesn't have enough guy time in his life..

I’ve never got that Porch is a date place. More like a meet friends for cocktails and Appis type place. For it to be Date like you need to be in your Rouge / Wilde chefs tasting type restaurant.

I guess I mean in regards to what's close walking distance to us, compared to all the other places around it. I walk up and down 17th / 4th, etc, almost nightly and get a feel for each place, Porch is definitely more dressed up / date'y feeling in comparison.

Think we're getting too hung up on the place itself; it's not about that as I've been feeling this for a while with a couple buddies, one lives in Edmonton. It's just the latest example. I'm more talking about don't choose a place on a lazy Sunday hang meet-up that's going to be more expensive and dressy comparatively. Perhaps it's more my friends group, but we've always just gone to more relaxed places, with daily specials and you can watch the game, etc. Save the other places for work functions and impressing a date / night out with the S.O., etc. So it's a random change and they always do it lately.

But with that, I'm off to meet them...at the sports bar I talked them into, ha-ha

I think that’s a better gear grinder. I want cheaper pub food and drinks not a fancier place. The way it was phrased before it sounded like you didn’t get it’s okay for friends to eat at restaurants

Yeah probably poor phrasing, I could tell by the responses something got misconstrued. Caesars and fish & chips on deck! Overdue for both. I need to switch to the WRMMH thread now.

People using a laptop on a late night flight and not using dark mode. WTF, nobody needs to see your outlook or ####ty word document in bright blistering white while all the other lights on the plane are off.

Eye mask and headphones. Don't over trust your on board comfort to some schlob who needs to type an email or leave a voice message while you're trying to sleep

That's my MO. I rarely answer if I don't recognize the number, if you need something then leave a VM or I assume it's not important and am not returning your call.

From a Business perspective? Thats a whole different animal. If you call me and hang up without leaving a message? I'm not calling you back, even if the call shows a number. So many are 'Private Callers.'
 |
Family is different, I'll return their call (eventually).

No, don't. I'll ignore a text from an unknown number just as I do a phone call.

You don’t even open them? Like if I said Hey it’s GGG I need to talk to you about xxxx give me a call you wouldn’t respond? How is it different then leaving a voicemail other than saving you the time to check your voice mail.

I'd say who the heck is GGG and why do you think I want to talk to you about something explicit?

Honestly, it depends on the situation. Is it my dad, a colleague, a client, a random work related person I don't know, a prospective client I have no relation to yet?

Well if they say who it is then yes, I will look at it. Still prefer VM however or better yet email. It's too easy to lose track of text messages.
