Well, Sharangovich seems to no longer be an NHL player and I’d say same about Farabee. Sometimes you have to take your L’s and move on.

You think we can get rid of them easily. One guy who was apparently a contract dump and another who will just start his extension.
Still didn’t understand the hurry to sign Sharangovich. Soft and streaky.
Don’t think many teams are out there looking for contract dumps with all this cap space.

Getting the facts wrong makes your opinion "trollish". Basically, it looks like you know absolutely nothing about the player and threw out a hot take that completely ignored all of the facts being shared by everyone else and diminished the quality of the discussion.
Here are some facts: - 23 year old RHC C and can play RW - fits an organizational need
- First round draft pick from 2020.
- Currently in his rookie NHL campaign with 10 goals and 12 assist for 22 points while playing primarily on the 4th line for a stacked Stars team. (Most Flames fans would drive Rooney to the airport to have someone scoring 22 points on the 4th line)
- Last year he was #1 in points in the AHL. I didn't realize this before but he was not just #1 for points on the Texas Stars but in the entire league (and he did that with only 4 PPG).
- He's been developing in the same Dallas Stars system that have cranked out guys like Robertson and Johnston.
I do not see the downside of trying to get a guy who fits organizational need, is having a pretty good rookie campaign and killed it in the AHL last year. He has followed the ideal development path of Junior -> AHL -> NHL.
It is truly a low risk move as what he has accomplished already is very likely to be better than whomever we draft in the second round of 2026 anyway and he is ready to play in the NHL now instead of in 2030.

Looking at the roster right now you could have him on the 3rd line with Backlund and Coleman and potentially slot him in the top 6 whenever you need to put the lines into the blender.
If he doesn't pan out and ends up an expensive 3/4th line player... and he is still giving you more than triple the production of Rooney's 7 points. But still, the Flames could make a gamble like this for $3-4M/year for a couple of years when we have loads of cap space and a rising salary cap.
However, if he establishes himself as a solid NHLer then that forces Conroy to make another move. Which is literally the same "problem" we would have with any draft pick where a player does the same thing.

I've seen some complaints about the Farabee/Frost trade recently because of their lack of points conversion during this last stretch.
Complaining about them not putting up points on a team bereft of any scoring in general is a bit silly.
I'll say this about Frost, even if he came in and the only thing he ever did was raise the teams overall faceoff win percentage, the trade is a win. If that was all he did.
But what I am seeing is a consistent effort night in and night out from Frost where he's skating the puck into the zone better than almost any other player on the roster, creating more scoring chances than the team average on a nightly basis and being an overall really good #2 center. Literally the only thing holding his flames early tenure up is just simply converting his scoring chances into goals and assists. I see Frost being a very impactful player for Calgary for a long time. His chiefest complaint when he came from Philly was he was soft and disappeared for long stretches, I can honestly say I've seen none of that since his arrival.
IMO it's only a matter of time and some roster improvements until Frost puts in closer to 50-60 points a season. It's all there.
As for Farabee, I see a guy thawing from the frozen tundra that was where torts had him in the doghouse. I'm pretty happy waiting until the end of next season to cast judgement on that player. He's shown flashes of what makes him good, but the confidence is Shakey at best right now.
Long and short, those two acquisitions were free upgrades on what the Flames sent the other way. And is a long term play. The instant benefits aren't there except for Frosts Faceoff upgrade and his zone entries which have been immediate and effective.
Patience. This trade wasn't for this season. It's for the next 5 years.

He's a player you sell the farm for. Don't care who they move if they got him. It's be worth every penny.

Would have zero interest in that especially for a winger.

Yea, the biggest thing I've noticed about Frost is how incredible he is at gaining the offensive zone (specifically on the PP).
Such a night and day difference vs prior to the trade

At least we will have traded everyone then
AND
We will then lose every game
AND
then we will win the lottery and have TWO elite talents
And then we will win the cup
Right?

If you don't know what position the most hyped prospect since McDavid is, you probably shouldn't comment on them.

There’s quite a bit of debate if long term he will be a centre or winger and where he will be most effective

Free besides the second round pick.
I liked the deal when it was done. But I’m not sure why people are acting as though Kuzmenko and Pelletier are the only assets that went back the other way. From the POV of the rebuilding Flyers, that 2nd (along with the cap space) was the main asset coming back.

Ya my bad seems he is a center. However doesnt change my stance about trading for him. Better ways if getting a center than robbing the bank.
Get near the top ten of this draft pull out a desnoyer or obrien.
