The potential in that 2024 class for the Flames organization is incredible. So many guys to be excited about.

nice!. 2 points in his first playoff game last night

I feel like his offensive progression in junior reminds me of Marchand

Marchand (3rd round pick May birthday)
D-1 61 9 20 29
D 68 29 37 66
D+1 57 33 47 80

Battaglia (2nd round pick March Bday)
D-1 66 7 20 27
D 67 31 34 65
D+1 68 40 50 90

Super excited about this kid, more-so than Gridin or Basha; turned 19 last week as well.

Great news.

Can he join Wranglers next year?

The Wraglers are going to be stacked with skill in 1-2 years.

Battaglia is an 06 so he won't be a Wrangler next year

Nope, but Luka Misa and Andrew Basha could

Yeah, he still has his 19 year old season ahead of him - let him get stronger and dominate the OHL

I liked the cut of this kids job in training camp. He's going to be a real player for the Flames. High hopes for him.

Nice.

First four picks from last years draft all signed to ELC's now
Two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders
I have a feeling 3rd round Henry Mews would be signed already too if he wasn't going to the NCAA (as per rumors)

Does the NCAA rules apply to kids transferring into the NCAA from the CHL? Like if Mews went to NCAA, he can't go UFA after finishing 4 years?

Pre-emptive move to keep him from going to the NCAA? Hope it pays off.

Signing a 2nd round pick a year out isn't irregular.

Wonder if he gets a camp invite for team Canada. If they’re serious about overhauling their whole system he may

If a player drafted in 2024 switches to the NCAA this summer, the NCAA rules will apply to his draft rights. That means he will have the option of leaving college at the end of the 2027-28 season and becoming a UFA as of June 1, 2028 (he could also leave in 2026 or 2027, but his draft rights would still be held until 2028). However, if he goes back for his senior year in 2028-29, his draft rights would be held until August 15, 2029.

Keep in mind, any player drafted out of junior has always had the option of not signing and re-entering the draft in 2026, becoming a UFA if he is undrafted the second time, or having the option of not signing with the second drafting team and becoming a UFA on June 1, 2028. So, going the college route actually gives the player fewer options.

One of the more exciting prospects for the Flames, especially since he has some size and grit to go along with his nice hands and brain. Just a great pick considering he had a subpar first half to his draft year, but with the coaching change, just took off. I guess other teams were sleeping on him. Glad the Flames didn't!

assuming you are referring to the World Jr I would hope he's in the mix. best I can tell- may have missed a name or 2-he is one of about 9 or 10 U20 eligible Canadian born forwards that put up at least 90 points in the CHL this year (and a handful of those could be in the NHL by then?)
