He was, in fact, not a Keeper.
I hope they find a good replacement soon. It's a riding they could certainly win, especially with Nixon running for the CPC.

He never seemed like a great candidate anyway. Maybe they can get Len Weber? I hear he's available.

More interesting news coming out about Liberal candidate this time involving a bounty on a Conservative candidate:
Quote:
Paul Chiang, the Liberal candidate seeking re-election in Markham-Unionville, has apologized for “deplorable” comments he says he made at an ethnic media gathering in January, where he told a Chinese-language news outlet how to claim a bounty on a Conservative candidate in Toronto.
The comments were referring to Joe Tay, a Conservative candidate who at the time was contesting the party’s nomination in Markham—Unionville, and is now the party’s candidate in Don Valley North.
The Liberal candidate, who defeated Conservative incumbent Bob Saroya in 2021 by a margin of fewer than 2,500 votes, held a meeting on Jan. 21 in his constituency office with ethnic media outlets.
In comments made to Ming Sheng Bao, the Canadian subsidiary of Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao, Chiang referenced a $1 million (HKD) bounty Hong Kong police had placed on Tay — about $184,000 — and said that if anyone present at the event brought him to the Chinese consulate general in Toronto, they could obtain the reward.

Most regulations are put in place by well-meaning people. And when taken alone, each is usually defensible on reasonable grounds. But taken together, seven or eight or thirteen well-meaning regulations can strangle efforts to get anything done. Which is why we need government (typically conservative) to come in periodically and cut them down.

Canadian Federal Politics Thread v5
I’ve read a couple reports on X that Jared Kuchner had some sort of real estate issue for which Brookfield bailed him out.
“Brookfield paid Kushner Companies $1.2B to sign a 99 year lease on the 666 Fifth Avenue property.”
Of course, it’s X so…

If you Google the Kushner thing, it just sounds like a real estate deal Brookfield saw potential in. The Kushner's were doing a #### job managing the building, Brookfield saw an opportunity, bought it, renovated it and now leases it.
Kushner overpayed for the building in 2007 or something, and Brookfield bought it out for less than they paid a decade later. I'm not sure how that's a bail out. Maybe there is more to the story, but this just seems like more desperation from a thoroughly panicked CPC team.
I dunno who these people are, or what they mean by Mark Carney's running mate. Like, jogging partner?

Does the CPC have any O&G or pipeline policies? Everyone keeps telling the the CPC is better for O&G and Alberta but I can't help but think of the Harper years and the decade of no cross provincial pipelines.

Watching CBC right now and apparently the CPC is now embroiled in a "civil war" amongst the inner circle of the party behind closed doors.

The party's social right ideology destroyed their chances yet they are still campaigning on things like the Century Initiative and the Trudeau-Carney boogeyman. They are campaigning to Conservative supporters using anti-Carney rethoric but that's not who they should be convincing. If anything, it's pushing votes away from them.
Canadians care about one single thing right now, and that's the preservation of Canada and fighting against Trump, and electing someone who is going to fight against it.
A recent rally they confiscated all MAGA hats, something they never did before, and Poilievre did seem to recently change his stance to one of standing up against Trump. With the big tent umbrella party, it encompasses a wide range of conflicting opinions and they are clashing hard on what they should campaign on. For a party demanding an election, they sure don't seem ready for one and falls purely on their leader.
They have nothing going right for them right now all mainly of their own doing for not pivoting hard when there was time to do so.
