I hear you guys but my eye test says bad bad bad. Advanced stats time?
Every time I’m swearing at a player for doing something stupid it always seems to be Rooney. I am surprised at -5 though. He’s gotta be near the top for allowing goals on PK though.

Tough task tonight. Hopefully Dallas is both tired and not eager to play very hard after their win against the Oilers last night. However, the Oilers put up 44 shots vs Dallas' 24. Maybe the coach uses this as some motivational technique to get Dallas to come out hard. Hopefully not. Just take a rest Dallas. If not, Calgary will just be forced to increase their own effort level and still beat you anyway. So save your effort for the game after this.

So, what you're saying is Huberdeau is now a PK specialist?

It actually is something he's improved on a lot throughout the year, and I actually see him make 1 or 2 great plays on the PK a game. He has great instincts for where the puck is going. It's his offensive brain that allows him to read the play way ahead of time.

Also matches my eye test. Backlund has had a rough year on the PK.

I think that they really missed having Backlund and Lindholm line up for the first PK faceoffs.

I would think if you’re Backlund and always starting the PK against other teams PP1 it would skew the results compared to Huberdeau who rarely starts the PK. But consider me impressed with Huberdeau’s numbers because he’s succeeding with smarter reads vs hustle.

Yes, yes, but where was Backlund when the Westfold fell?

Wait...what are we talking about?

Glass half-full - they played Edmonton last night and the motivation vs us might not be there compared to the team that knocked them out last year. Giving up 3 goals late but pulling out the win, maybe a sign of slipping play, getting lazy?

Glass half-empty - our roster is ass and theirs is legitimately scary. They are up 2-0 in the season series and that's before the Rantanen addition.

All in on this one, tough game to win but this is the kind of game that will make the difference between playoffs or just giving up our pick for nothing. Win this one and the oilers game on saturday will be massive, we can pull them to within 4 pts and they will be right in the thick of it trying to hold on to a playoff spot with all their injuries
