I will always love Torts for telling McDavid to shut up, stop whining about calls and learn to check

Imagine Torts hired by Edmonton and telling McDavid to block shots and quit flopping.

He was doing such a good job as Tank Commander since the deadline. Almost as good as Joe Sacco.

I am also a subscriber of the "overrated" notion. A good coach can get consistent results year-over-year. A new coach can maximize what the individual pieces of his team are and create some synergy. It seems that Torts seems to get a lot less of his teams at times.

I will never forget the hilariously bad overreaction and overthinking of Hartley starting the 4th line in Vancouver. It was a damn reward for them having a goal or two in the previous game, and the rest of the lines looking terrible for a stretch. The message was for the other 3 lines, and Torts just took it personally and assumed it was for him and the team. He really assumed that regardless of who he put on the ice, there would have been a rumble. McGrattan has come out and said in some podcast: "As if we were going to jump the Sedins? Who does that?" That rumble was all on Torts, and yet Hartley gets fined.

I hope he ends up on the Oilers are on another team I dislike. May he send them to the gutter like he has a number of teams under his watch. He seems like a good human, so I don't hate him or anything (though I admit it sounds like I do!! haha). I think he is just a bad coach. I think he gets another job, however, but another poor stop and that will probably be it. He better find a 'can't miss team on the rise'. If I was him, I would be looking at the Sharks as my #1 destination right now. Low expectations, and a tonne of young talent drafted and coming up through the pipeline. I hope he goes to Edmonton, however. Would just add to the slapstick comedy up there.

This should be his last NHL job. Go write your book and enjoy retirement. Some broadcaster will no doubt back up the Brinks truck to entice him into commentary.

The league is a better place with guys that aren't scared to speak their mind and twist #### up.

Sure, but why do so many people who speak their mind have to be #######s? Tortorella wasn't fired because he speaks his mind. People want to speak their mind that's fine, but he also played mental games with his players, which is not cool

I wouldn’t even flirt with Torts joining the Oil. It could be great entertainment, but it also could just work.

Please no. Let them keep cycling thru useless sycophants.

Sure. But these days the majority of people don’t want to hear people speaking their mind. They’d like you to drink their koolaid.

The speak your mind era is probably over.

I would love for that to happen. How can we influence this move?

He did wonders with the BJs. He is the only coach to get that team to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
