Pretty great performance, verging on dominating thr US. The one goal was a counter against run of play. huge fifa points too. not going to get carried away about winning a meaningless game after the competition ended, we're not rangers fans or something. but still as good as you could hope for today, enjoyed it. Johnston looked ####ing fantastic playing the wrong side even. Won about 3 or 4 throws late by playing it out off us players under pressure. Bombito was immense as well.
I think Johnston had a much better game today than on Thursday. Have never been a fan of Tani but that was a nice poacher's goal. David's finish was quality. Ahmed looked cleaner in his final delivery but that is still the weak spot in his game. Set pieces still weren't great. Really surprised with all the Promise David hype that we didn't see him get any minutes.
Really curious to see what the squad looks like for those Canadian Shield games in June and Gold Cup. Not sure how strong the squads will be for those so would like to see a few promising depth pieces such as Russell-Rowe, Knight-Lebel, de Fougerolles, Jimoh, etc get a chance.
Great win. May go to how in shambles the US still is then Canada, but full value for the win and an all around good performance.
This team needs confidence and confidence that they can score and this game helped that, and for David that he can score like he can in Luge 1.
Steps to get to peak in time for June 2026.

Definately they are reeling but boy does it feel good to beat them still. The arrogance level there is just off the charts from their coach claiming they will be #1 in the world in 5-10 years to their journalists claiming pulisic is the best player in concacaf and some kind of god rather than a chelsea castoff thriving in a decaying Italian league.
Kick them while they are down, and then kick them once more for forcing us to endure landycakes.
Boy their fan turnout was absolutely embarassing as well
Poch is an overrated coach. Good but not great. Their player pool remains the limiting factor. But even with the States in shambles it is great to beat them, and even better to do it on American soil
Surely Jesse Marsch will be facing a lengthy touchline ban for his red card yesterday? Absolutely atrocious treatment of a female official. Disgraceful stuff. I've never seen a manager come onto the pitch AFTER receiving a red card.
What a night and day difference in quality from the semifinal to this game. It really felt like Canada shoulda put away 2 more. A good win, but only a consolation.
I watched the final too - quite entertaining. I just can't believe what Cordoba did it stoppage to concede a penalty. Like seriously, wtf? He literally reached out to handle the ball. Makes you wonder if he has some shady ass betting going on the side.

I thought Johnston had a much better match v USA. Canada has to find the third goal. The USA was hanging around far too long.
I’m not sure if the pitch had something up with it, but it looked like the players were having a difficult time with the ball bouncing. Or just bad first touches…but there were too many examples of the football coming up from a groundpass. That’s foot placement, and I don’t expect that at decent u14 matches never mind repeatedly at this level.
Still, you can only play the team in front of you, so win the match and move on.

Bad news for Alphonso Davies. He’s suffered a cruciate ligament tear and is out for the rest of the season. This Bayern statement has him sidelined for several months while other reports say he’ll be out for a minimum of 6 months.
Well that's not good. How did it go from a knock from the Canadian medical staff to torn ACL? Canada seriously downplayed this (at least in public). Bayern got hammered by injuries from these nations league games
He wasn't going to be at Gold Cup anyways, so he just misses out on any friendlies between now and the end of the year.
The silver lining (if you can call it that) is the timing of the injury is far enough out from World Cup that it shouldn't impact his participation. At this point it's simply don't get hurt again before World Cup. Which, knowing Davies' injury history, is always a risk.

If Davies could fire his agent into the sun that would be great. I thought after he signed his contract we wouldn't have to listen to him again for a long while.
Its unfortunate for sure. Davies most previous injuries were hamstrings. Given the speed and consistency of running hard up and down the wing as he does, more prone to this. But an ACL can go at anytime.
Agent is looking to just cause a stir and/or making sure he and his client are staying in the good books of Bayern by complaining; if there was previous knee damage and the Canadian training staff threw him out there that's one thing, but even the agent's not saying that.
Simply the fact that it was third place game and the MNT shouldn't have bothered to have him play in that.
"Over the past 24 hours, I spoke with Jesse Marsch on several occasions. I have a lot of respect for him as a coach. We had positive and productive discussions and laid down the ground work to ensure we are all aligned and working together, to continue to protect the best interests of players. Moving forward everyone involved is focused on prioritizing Phonzie’s recovery."
Bayern Munich have demanded an explanation from Canada team officials after defender Alphonso Davies suffered a ligament tear on international duty that has put him out of the Bundesliga season finale.
The 24-year-old was forced off early in Canada’s 2-1 win over the U.S. in the Concacaf Nations League third-place playoff on Sunday. “We’re demanding a full investigation into the events from Canada Soccer and expressly reserve the right to take legal action,” Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen told the Bild tabloid on Friday.
“It is bitter for us and the way it happened is just not correct,” Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund added. “We want to know what exactly happened.” Freund said Davies had complained of fatigue after Canada’s prior game but still played. “He is the captain, a young man who wanted to help his team but it was borderline,”
“The second issue is the injury after 12 minutes. Then Phonzy [Davies] flies back on a 12-hour flight and we all assume it is not a serious injury but then we have this,” Freund said of the discovery Davies had an ACL tear in his right knee.
“That is sloppy. It is not professional and we need to talk and clear it up. We are the employers, we pay the players, so we will be looking into what happened.” There was no immediate response from the Canada team.
