Certainly possible but she did position herself well for the take down of Kenny. Perhaps too much time in the griftosphere has made her disconnected from the real world.

By Hanlons razed I will assume you mean Occam's razor. The simplest answer for her is and always has been she will do what is best for her in the moment and then lie about it when the consequences arrive.

I can’t understand what she was smoking, saying that in an interview. Does she secretly hate PP? This won’t help the federal Cons at all.

I'd love that. Especially if the overwhelming answer was 'No' and as a result Smitty was catapulted into the Sun.
The opportunity to vote on Albertan Sovereignty?
Please Vote accordingly.

Except they wouldn't release the results like their last number of (government-funded) surveys.

No Hanlons razor is never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.

It seems far more useful these days.

Maybe it's 4D chess. Cementing a liberal federal majority helps secure a UCP Majority.

Depending on how the inevitable public inquiry into the AHS procurement mess goes Smith may not in power long enough to earn the title of governor.

While that would be nice...we're not allowed to have nice things.
Granted, I would pay real money to watch a no-holds-barred Boxing match between Smith and Nenshi.
It would be amazing and probably generate enough revenue to eliminate any Alberta funding deficit.

Gotcha! "Yes" wins with a 26% plurality of the vote, as the other choices evenly split the remaining 74%! Suck it!

So much of what the UCP does is built around standing up to and fighting against Ottawa, I would not be at all surprised if she would prefer the Liberals stay in power federally.

One thing to note is that the clip is from March 8, and only really seeing attention now. I wonder if seeing it gain ground on social will trigger CBC or anyone else to do some reporting on it. Guess we will find out Monday?

The lying portion of our programme has arrived.
She has tried to clean up her comments with this lie...err statement...
https://bsky.app/profile/ctheriault..../3ll33fk2wak2c
For the last several months, I, and many of my fellow Premiers, have been working relentlessly to convince U.S. officials at all levels just how damaging threatened tariffs will be to both Canadians and Americans.
I've also repeatedly asked those same officials to refrain from placing any tariffs on Canadian goods until a proper renegotiation of CUSMA can be held following our federal election with a Prime Minister that has won a mandate from Canadians to negotiate with the U.S. President.
Now that an election has been called I would reiterate my hope that the United States would refrain from placing tariffs on their closest ally and largest trading partner during the middle of the election.
I, along with the vast majority of Albertans, are obviously concerned with how vulnerable and weak the Liberal Government has left our country after the last 10 years of anti-resource development policies, and I have yet to see any meaningful commitment to reverse those policies that warrants giving them a fourth consecutive mandate. However, that decision is ultimately up to Canadians.
(She is delusional if she thinks she speaks for the vast majority of Albertans about this)

So it begins:
Quote:
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is under fire for an interview she did March 8 with Breitbart in the U.S. over controversial remarks that appear to suggest she asked the Trump administration to lay off their tariff threats until after a Canadian federal election in the hopes of seeing Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives elected.

All I can get

The UCP could go door-to-door robbing people of their wallets at gunpoint, and by the time they're halfway down the block, the victims will come running after them clutching their kids' piggy banks.

While there are differing views on her approach, in no way does Smith support the Liberals remaining in power. She is advocating for the preservation of an industry that is highly significant to Alberta's economy and also to the national economy, now and for a long time in the future.
The oil and gas industry is expected to prosper under PP, whereas Carney's policy aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, which calls for the elimination of oil and gas as a fuel by that time. The emissions cap, he plans to maintain upon being elected, marks the start of this initiative.
As an older person, I experienced the NEP and saw the harm caused by Pierre Elliot Trudeau, which devastated many people in Alberta and seriously divided our country. With the obstacles his son imposed on the oil and gas industry over the last 9 years and the division it created, facing potentially worse consequences under Carney makes me concerned about how our country may respond in the future.
Carney claims to be unifying the country, when in fact his agenda will seriously divide the East and West. He is notably conflicted as a Prime Minister by saying his main effort to stimulate our economy will involve the furthering of green energy development and the building of houses. These are the same areas of responsibility he held as CEO of Brookfield Asset Management. I believe it's been said that he has held a significant share interest in this company. It’s a shame we will not get to see what’s in his Blind Trust until after the election.
