I'm not sure that is all that great a strategy, anyway. The morons who have railed against the WEF for so long are heavily associated with convoyers and Trumpers and right wing insanity. The ads will just look more like that, and turn rational voters off. Sure, those ads may solidify their Alberta muppets, but I think they may do more harm than good in the rest of the country. This is the corner Pierre has painted himself into.
Perhaps a very well crafted ad could get the point across without the connection, but so far the CPC media team hasn't really shown themselves capable of the necessary nuance. It's just gonna be more ranty blathering that convinces voters Carney has the competency and experience needed at this point.

This is not what is being proposed.
You are smart enough to do the math.

So you reduce the number of other immigrants to prioritize them. It's not like millions are going to move their lives from the US, but I have no doubt we could add a lot of needed talent with a good campaign. Pretty short sited to ignore that when we are trying to find ways to diversify our economy. Medical research is huge and massive numbers of researchers have just lost their jobs and active research tat could be restarted here.
Or we could shut the door.

That sounds great in theory but it's really not practical because even if you attract these researchers and scientists you need to provide them with funding and facilities so that they can continue with their work. We don't necessarily have excess capacity in those critical facilities and making more space is not something that happens overnight. Not to mention that there might be additional complications with credentials and licensing just to get these people up and running here in Canada.
Also, don't we already have a sizable talent pool of skilled immigrants who have come here over the years but are working as drivers or in fulfillment centres or other such jobs? Can't we put the existing pool to work instead of trying to persuade Americans to come here?

Well ya, if we want to build up an industry it's gonna cost money. These are people in the middle of research projects who lost it. Getting them ASAP provides the opportunity to continue the work here,e in Canada, where we can profit off of it. You know, diversify our economy? We need ot learn to seize opportunities when they arrive, and this is probably a once in a lifetime one.
Honestly your position sounds ridiculous in the current environment, but I guess I should expect no less because it's a post I made, and you are going to have to find a way to hate it.

So basically like you do with everyone PP says. Okay then.
Must be hard to do the mental gymnastics once Carney does the same thing that you just said was bad.

You think it is somehow a focused attack but at the same time you are just posting generalities which you believe are such quick and easy solutions. One thing with this last post is with regards to continuation of work up here. Some scientists and researchers might be able to do that easily but many might not because in some cases their work and research is controlled by an institution. They can bring their knowledge base but prior research and results might be protected and non transferable.

I didn't say easy, but the value is huge. But whatever, lets just pump more oil forever and not worry about seizing other opportunities when they happen. Hell, even Kenney knew pouching professionals from other provinces was a good idea, and now we have an opportunity to do it from the US, and it's just not worth the hassle?

I am curious to know what you would use as positive selling points to get them to move up here.

Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson have a new book called Abundance at its essentially a vision for “liberals” to reshape their political thoughts.
Its thesis is that between 1960 and 1980 the center shifted from being people who build things to people who oppose building things. So the civil rights movements and environmental movements created legal frameworks where any individual could stop something. While well intended it’s created this current environment where nothing can be built.
So government needs to reshape what it does an focus on enabling things to be built to improve prosperity. Essentially low cost clean energy and housing will form the bedrock of a future economy.
Much of this nation building from Carney seems to come from the same themes.

Tens of thousands have just lost their jobs....so, employment? Ability to continue their life work? Not wondering how to survive a fascist state that rejects science, so has no need for you?
Do people pay attention to what's happening down there?
Plus I already said poutine.

Have you given some thought that, because of the tariffs, 40% of our population are afraid of losing their job, our real estate market is trending downward, looks like inflation will rise, and there is a good chance we will go into recession. And you want to go down and start convincing people to move here.

Science, vaccines, less violent crime/guns, diversity, human rights, good education, intelligent Prime Minister, freedom of press, not under Russian influence.
Basically they'd like Canada for the same reason's you don't.
