Not sure if this counts as a "celebrity" death since he was pretty invisible, but Dolly Parton's husband Carl Dean has died at 82.
Quote:
Carl Dean, Dolly Parton's devoted husband of nearly 60 years who avoided the spotlight and inspired her timeless hit “Jolene,” died Monday. He was 82.
According to a statement provided to The Associated Press by Parton's publicist, Dean died in Nashville, Tennessee. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending.
Parton and Dean kept strict privacy around their relationship for decades, Parton telling The Associated Press in 1984: “A lot of people say there’s no Carl Dean, that he’s just somebody I made up to keep other people off me.”
Just think of that, being married for 60 odd years, and then suddenly you wake up and they're gone.
MY Dad and Mom had been married for more then 60 years, and my Mom's death, while a bit of a relief because of her dementia was still devastating on my Dad and it took him a year to start feeling human again.

Strange and sad end, but what a great actor. Any idea about his dog?
I read that tests are the dog were conducted and results are still pending. They said it was inside a kennel, which was inside a closet in the bathroom. They don't know why for sure it was in there.
If it was in there for 2 weeks, I would bet that it starved or died of dehydration.

Listening to the medical examiner my hypothesis is that she was probably taking care of him in some capacity, but passed away from the virus and then he was unable to care for himself.
Pretty tragic.

Oh man. I don't know why but that makes me really sad.
Perhaps it's because he started off as an angry young man, leading into the Rumble in the Jungle with Muhammad Ali, but then later in life he became this joyous person.
Now, he says it was because he had a spiritual awakening and became a born-again christian, but I have to think it's because he went down the path of hate and anger, and it only resulted in spiritual emptiness despite the financial windfalls. When he turned towards positivity, he reaped the benefits of seeing the good in the world and others, but then also made profit as well.
It's a lesson that we all should take. Do not despair, celebrate what you have but also those around you, and most importantly, don't sweat the small stuff. I don't care how he got there, just that he did.
RIP George. We will miss that famous smile.

As good a reason as any to watch "When We Were Kings". If anyone hasn't seen it, watch it. Oscar winning documentary on the rumble in the jungle.
It more paints Ali in a good light but shows Foreman when he was still a mean mother ####er before he became the jovial, smiling preacher.

Love hearing Howard Cosells voice. Takes me back to the heyday of boxing when all the great boxing matches were on regular T.V. on a weekend. He was such a great announcer. It was more like a mainstream sport and not just a pay per view event with a niche audience like it is now.
There were so many good boxers in the 70's/80's. Ali, Frazier, Norton, Foreman. Some with great names... Sugar Ray Leanord, Thomas the Hit Man Hearns, Ray Boom Boom Mancini, Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Frazier was Smokin Joe Frazier.

Interesting side note on those names, Hagler legally changed his name in the 80's to Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
