ALL ABOARD!
|
A couple months back on took the plunge into comic book "retail". I started with a small display case with 4 short boxes and the following month a booth opened up so I expanded my space at Inside Avenue Antiques (3419 8 St SE, Calgary, AB).
I filled it with back issues, a couple pieces of original art, some rare prints and a few statues. Lots of key issues, long runs of series like Uncanny X-Men, G.I. Joe (Marvel) and Transformers (Marvel) and $2 bins at the bottom.
Everything from Silver Age to Modern comics are there. If you're looking for anything specific, let me know and I'll see if I have it.
I'm currently having a 20% off everything sale that lasts the duration of Stampede (ends Sunday).
More images. Spoilered for size.

I'm building a collection of key silver age X-men that I plan on getting graded. Always on the lookout for comics.

Silver is always tougher to come by than 80/90s and more modern stuff.
If you have Instagram, give our account a follow (or Facebook) as we post the collections we pick up. I have a line on some Silver and Golden books right now.

KTrain, I swung by Avenue Antiques today to check out your shop and ended up buying some issues. What a great collection!

Thanks man. I really appreciate it!
I'm trying to put together a little spot I'd want to shop at. I'm happy people are finding good books for their collections.

A little update on the booth. Another spot opened up that let me have my own space (rather than sharing with the Hotwheels booth) and more wall space. So we moved into it last week. I was able to add another few hundred comics, more art/prints, as well as vintage toys.
Thanks to everyone from CP who have stopped by!
If you have old comics collecting dust and are looking for cash, feel free to reach out.

We're having a 30% off everything sale this week. That incudes the wall and display books, toys and art. The $2 comics are 4 for $2. I just filled those bins and there's lots of great, cheap books in there.

On Saturday, March 15 we're hosting an old school comic book show. We'll have 22 tables of vendors bring almost nothing but comic books.
Calgary Comic Book Show
Saturday, March 15, 2025
10am to 4pm
Millican Ogden Community Association
2110 69 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB

Also, I'm still buying comic book collections. If you have a collection, collecting dust, feel free to shoot me a DM.

Totally random I don’t know anything about this series, other than it’s about two-face, or who this artist is.
But this legitimately is one of the best comic book covers I have ever seen.

According to Reddit, the artist's name is Baldemar Rivas. It's a cover to issue 6 of 6 of a limited series that started in December.

We stopped by at around 1030. Wow was it busy! Shoulder to shoulder. It was so busy we didn’t browse for too long. My days of back issue collecting are over anyways, i already have too many, but it is always fun to look.
Good to see so much interest though.

Caught up on "Something is Killing the Children" the other day. That is a very good series. Strong 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' vibes.

I am a massive fan of James Tynion. Nice house by the lake, world tree, deviant. Something killing the children is the one series I haven’t picked up. Definitely on my wish list.

Thanks for checking it out.
You were definitely there during the peak but it was steady all day. I underestimated how busy versus the venue size. Next one we'll make sure to have much more space.
Awesome to see that many people still into comics. People were buying lots.
