Cozens hasnt looked good for a while but he might bounce back he is still young

Can Norris stay healthy?

Risk all around

Glad Flames didn't pick up Cozens. Think he's on the way down. Would've been more interested in Norris.

This feels like such an Ottawa Senators thing to do.

A slightly cheaper, slightly younger, much worse defensively, player with one outlier season.

This is why they’re the 3rd most popular team in their own market.

They're third most popular team in their own market because the two most hyped teams in the league, with the biggest media coverage, are right on either side of them, and both those teams have been around for over a century.

Look how many Leaf and Hab fans there are in Calgary. And we're two time zones away.

Not disagreeing, but his point still stands. Pretty sure if Ottawa was a powerhouse you would see a lot more fans.

They can LTIR him. Really no getting out of the Cozen deal you can’t LTIR a player because they are no good.

Will be cheering hard for Zary and Norris.

Next Reinhart? This is working out exactly as expected for a former Buffalo player. Nice get for the Sens.

Norris is also injured again, so OTT is the early winner.

That said Chychrun looked like a stud in OTT putting up 13P in 14GP, being +9, then something went wrong and he looked rather average. Debrincat was another player that looked great to start, putting up 8 points in his first 7 games as a Senator.

Don't get me wrong both Chychrun and Debrincat are pretty good players, but OTT moved on from both rather quickly, getting less than what they originally paid.

Yup. Those are kinda vanity stats posted. He’s going to get more playing time than most in the team so those stats are bound to be high when only looking at the team. Six games in he has five points. Not bad but nothing earth shattering in a small sample.

We needed to get this one done. Type of trade that can help avoid a rebuild.

Where is Paulie Walnuts? Boat anchor contract and 40-point guy?

I was 50/50 on acquiring him...depended on the cost as there was/is definitely risk associated with him.

Apparently the main ask was Zary which I would have been fine with as I think Zary's ceiling is lower than Cozens. Plus C>LW.

Either way...OTT deserves some success. Wish them both the best.

He was +3 against Boston two games prior.

In the games I've watched, Cozens looks pretty good in Ottawa

I always get a kick out of those that rush to quick "I told you so's" with a minute sample size.

(and I like Cousins!)

When the claims are outrageous, you don't need to wait for more games.

It's not like anyone is saying he's proven he's a franchise center in just 6 games.

How so? Any claim needs a reasonably sized data set to have a point, before that it is just noise.
eg) Mark Jankowski is scoring at a goal per game pace in Carolina since that trade.

I think the need to be slow and analytically challenge our own beliefs is especially important for situations where we have an emotional response (eg thinking something is outrageous). Emotions cloud our judgments and create intellectual blind spots.

Cozens fits in Ottawa's age cohort and they had the assets for it. He fits much better in their window. Not sure why its our problem

Type of trade that avoids rebuilds? Lol

So you can stay the same. Cozens isn't a franchise changer, and Ottawa was rolling before him anyways.
