This wasnt on Calgary CityBeat or any news stories. Im sure everyone wants to keep stuff like this quiet since its not good during Stampede to frighten off the tourists. But you could always contact the media yourself if you wanted this out there and maybe the cops would take it more seriously if the media was looking into it.
Was there anything else to this? Was there anywords exchanged before? Or even after the jumping? Were they maybe after the friend in the group?
I hope it doesnt offend anyone, but were there any ethnic minorities involved in either the victims or perpetrators?

wasn't really much too it. we were just leaving the station, started getting beaked by these guys. then they asked who one of my friends was and he told them his name so they jumped him. not sure what the past history was there. so then i reached in to break it up, along with one of the guys from the group of assailants and then another guy jumped in and kicked my ***.
the weird thing is that out of the 6 guys only 3 of them were trying to start trouble, the other three seemed rather indifferent and content to just go along with their friends. as soon as i got jumped my cousin and a guy from the other group both broke it up or i may have been pummeled a lot more as i was just totally taken by surprise.
at first i thought it was just a one on one thing with the two guys with history. but the guy that jumped me i don't think he cared about anything other than he was drunk and wanted to fight. im not much of a fighter usually but the friggin loser could have just challenged me to fight if he wanted to get down. i certainly gave no indication that i was interested in jumping in and joining the fight that was going on so its not like the guy that jumped me would have thought i was threatening.
and no the losers were typical punk *** p**** white kids. and im white too. so can't say it was racially motivated.

If the Citybeat reported every assault, fight, etc. they attended, I think it would be a little extreme. I doubt it's a "conspiracy" to keep the tourists away (they already released a sexual assualt downtown that there was no prior history between the offender/victim)...so from what flip was saying, it sounds like there was a history between atleast two of the parties involved so it wasn't totally random.

I dunno how citybeat works. Sometimes they have the most minor stuff on there and then other times it takes days for major assaults to show up even though media is covering them.
I dont think its a conspiracy but its the same way the city has moved the bums off Stephen Ave for Stampede. Appearance is everything.

Wow, that sucks. Hope you're okay, man. At least you weren't by yourself.
Chicks dig scars as long as they're in cool places. I'm sure you'll be fine, though!
Must make it tough to enjoy the rest of Stampede, though.

My friends younger brother was parked at that station last night and got a rock put through his car window. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the same group causing more mayhem that night.

I used to live by that station and it's certainly not a bad part of town or anything like that. I find with Calgary though, the rich kids worry me more then the poor because they're just spoiled punk a**es who get away with too much.

Rough... I must have missed this action by mere minutes. I left Flames Central at 2ish and trained it to fish creek station to grab my truck. Shiz. Not that I'd have even gotten invloved. I'd probably have been just as much of a dick as the ems guys and figured that you all were a bunch of young punks chuckin knucks for no good reason. Bindar Dundat.

I really dislike the " pretend thugs " that try to instigate a fight. Sorry to hear that you got jumped.
One group of kids I dislike is the street racers who zip in and out of traffic.

If it was ethnic minorities that jumped this man, the cops and media would have been all over it. Most certainly the CPS, especially if it was non caucasian instigators.
Sorry to hear ya got jumped man, sucks. Hence, one always has to be aware of the surroundings, i always am.

YIKES.. I must have been there 15 minutes or so before you, and this is a little scary because my little sister has a habit of walking from Fishcreek Station all the time especially because she works late @ Chinook. I dont care if they are 'fake' thugs or real thugs, they are ALL pathetic, what the hell is the point of jumping someone? whether you know them or not, it's pathetic and they obviously have serious issues.

If you don't have coverage, when you recieve the bill, call them and tell them that you did not ask for an ambulance to be called, that the police called them without asking you. They should be able to either reduce the bill or cancel it all together.
Sorry to hear this happened to you, I personally hate riding the train late at night simply for this reason, you never know what could happen.

It sucks man, I hear you. I was in Brussels and I was jumped by a gang of Moroccans. They tackled me in broad daylight in the street and made off with my wallet.

Something like this happened to my martial arts instructor once. He was visiting his wife at the hospital, when a group of 3 guys just decided to climb out of their SUV and beat him up. The first guy came at him with a bat, and just grazed the side of his head. He ended up beating the living out of all of them. One guy got kicked in the head so hard he was bleeding out of his ears. When they took him into emergency, the people woking there thought he got hit by a truck or something.
Anyways, I wanted to tell this because sometimes, what goes around comes around, and the attackers end up messing with the wrong guy, in that case, a 4th dan black belt in Korean Hapkido. Furthermore, the police said that they had reports of others being jumped by 3 guys in a black SUV, and they thought it was them.

Sucks man. Me and my brother got jumped by three people in the late 90's. We were walking home at around 9 pm from the Macs store which was no more then a 5 min walk away. I was 18 I think at the time. I needed stitches in my left ear as I got blindsided by one of the guys wielding a pipe or knife. Never seen any of them before in my life. It was just a random act of violence against us for some reason. They didn't even take our 2 L Coke we had in the bag.
A week later a roommate on his way home said he possibly saw the guy a block away, so him, my brother and myself grabbed our hockey sticks and ran to the end of the block but we didn't see anyone.
A lot of f'd up people in this world, that's for sure.

It's summer and the teenagers are out in full force. I live in front of a High School and routinely see large groups of them wandering around the streets, tossing motorbikes, mailboxes and smashing bus stops. God, I feel old saying that.
Sorry this happened to you man! Hopefully karma catches up to them.
