Where does Canada buy its arms and munitions from?
Gonna guess the States.
Nobody is coming, and Canadians aren’t going to put up much of a fight. Sort of beside the point though because I’m not sure what the states obsession is with Canada or why it even needs to invade when we literally don’t do anything about our sovereignty anyway. If this is such a threat, things would be different. The States can literally get and do whatever they want anyway without the headache of invading.

Yes, he wants to be just like them. Answer to nobody, be king of his country. Especially as he gets older and his mental well being continues to sharply decline mainly due to his astronomical narcissism. Nothing is off the table when your mind is as warped as his, and people keep feeding it.
If you went back in time and asked a younger Trump about invading Canada he would think you're making it up. But today's Trump's mind is fried. The worst possible position for a person with the mental illness he has is to put him in a position of power, it only feeds it. Now his brain, ego and narcissism is like a car going downhill with no brakes. Until he dies it's going to get worse and worse.

Human actions and behaviors are cyclical, but 'history repeats itself' is a myth. The United States aren't likely to look anything different post-invasion as they do now. They are the most powerful nation on the planet, and they have the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons apart from Russia. There is no coalition of economic or military strength that is going to stop them without some type of nuclear intervention...and guess where that leaves us all.
It's a bit naive to think our reputation and relationships with other nations will magically save us. The only thing that may, IMO, is a military coup or civil war that disrupts the beast from within. And I actually (maybe naively) think that could be a likely scenario.

Canada would get steamrolled in a conventional war. However, generations of guerilla warfare and violence against the civilian population will change the way that the USers live their lives.

Wife’s sister and partner are planning on driving to Arizona. I’m reading several stories about non-Americans being arrested. I think the risk is low but my wife is worried. They’re Canadian so who knows.
Anyone have ammunition I can use to either convince them not to go or to allay my wife’s fears?

Apparently Putin and Trump spent some time today discussing organizing a hockey series between American and Russian NHL and KHL stars.

Travel is down but thousands of Canadians still travel to the USA every day. As long as they’re not doing anything sketch they should be fine.
Being white helps too.

Thousands and thousands of Canadians cross the border every day, and spend time in the states uneventfully. I’ve been back and forth several times myself, completely uneventfully. Some day that might change, but we aren’t there now.

They stop you;
Q- Y'all Americans?
A- Nope.

It might be a coincidence, but Trump slammed the WSJ recently, which probably pissed off Murdoch. It would be a massive blow if Trump lost the support of Fox and the broader News Corp organization... One can dream.

Fun fact, the Lumber Gundam is actually Canada's lore-accurate Gundam:

I like how Canada is such a non-issue to Fox that Trump's obsession of a take over is even setting off alarms for them.

Can't remember where I saw it, but there was a recent poll showing that something like 90% of Americans are not interested in Canada becoming part of the U.S.
Also Doug Ford mentioned in an interview earlier today that during their trade meeting at the WH last week, U.S. representative Lutnick called the 51st state thing "nonsense." Hell, Trump's own pick for Ambassador to Canada reiterated that we're a sovereign country during his confirmation hearing when asked the question directly.
It would appear that the only person currently obsessed with insulting and threatening Canada is Trump. Like the weird obsession of a geriatric narcissistic dementia patient who can't stop doubling down. Yes, we should continue to take the threats seriously and be ready for anything, because this guy is a f'n lunatic. But my hope is that people in the U.S. are starting to get sick of the stupid rhetoric. When Fox News of all networks is fact-checking him on live TV, that might not be a good sign for him.

This 100%. We have nothing when this admiration starts to come into our country. No allies and no meaningful defense. And I really believe it will happen.
