Game 4: 16% xGF (Still 1-0 GF and an assist)
Game 5: 6% xGF
So 3 good games and 2 bad games by advanced stats. And still a higher xGF than Kevin Rooney has had all season, but he can't come out of the lineup ever for some reason.

Roondog has some photos that Huska wishes didn’t exist. Has to be the explanation.

At least the flames look like they will fail their way into a bottom 10 pick and have the ability to trade off those guys at the draft.

Or Huska is a bad coach and makes bed decisions.

Conny is a new GM. Really hope this is a learning experience for him think he has to give the players a shot cause they started strong. Next deadline I’ll be curious to see if he is willing to have the guts to make the hard decisions.

Wolf was great. He gave them a chance. The team in front of him failed him.

Well sure, if you want a dose of reality.
For me, this game is enough of that.
Leafs showing some mercy now. Could have been 10. Probably have Bérubé to thank for that. Old school. Doesn’t want anyone getting hurt if things get crazy.

Maybe but the bottom 10 has started to lose again and Columbus and Detroit are slumping too. Of the teams in the bottom 12 that can pass the Flames only the Islanders have a better than .500 record in their last 10 and they are terrible and have a tough schedule coming up.
It's still more likely they fall of and just end up giving pick 12 or 13 to Montreal than it is they finish bottom 10.

- Season isn't over.
- All players had every opportunity to voice their desire to leave and they didn't for a year and a half.
- They committed to the Flames so the Flames committed to them.
- Any returns for various hypothetical players are complete speculation because none of the situations got anywhere near consummation.
That's how you build a proper organizational culture of trust and how agents and players on other teams notice that and remember that in the future when considering the Flames as a destination.

In fairness to Conroy, the team way looking pretty good heading into Dallas and the TDL to be in a position to make the playoffs. Selling off your vets at that point might send a bad message to the young guys and the players that actually want to be here. Hindsight is 20/20 and yeah, it might look like a bad call now, but I can't say I blame Conroy - especially when ownership mandate is to make playoff revenue.

Exactly, who cares about "eyes" on Wolf. We know what we have and we're not trading him any time soon. When we score 2 goals we actually have a chance to win or get a point most nights with this guy in net. That should say enough.

It's for the best.
Also hoping that management sees it as a sign to not go out and spend $25 million in free agency on July 1. This team is not a handful of UFAs away

As others have pointed out, Conroy is a relatively new GM who also a.) Has a plan and b.) Learns from his mistakes. He sold Lindholm, Markstrom, Tanev, Hanifin and Zadorov last year after the Gaudreau incident. I am sure he will take a very analytical look at this team in Free agency and beyond and make some tough decisions if he needs to. In hindsight, the Sharangovich deal looked great at the time. I am still quite happy with the Frost and Farabee trade. I trust Conny. I trust his plan. Despite my pessimism, I am actually looking forward to seeing how he builds this team from the ground up.
