If he doesn’t watch then he probably doesn’t interfere, right? It’s just an increasing asset as all pro teams are these days.
But the beef seems to be that he does follow, and that he puts pressure on the GM to keep the Flames in playoff contention rather than any real long term planning. Certainly no tanking for elite talent is allowed. Even last time, I think we called it a re-tool and it resulted in good picks not by design but rather futility.
That’s what all the people familiar with the matter seem to think. Insiders and media types that do this reporting full time, all say the same thing about the Flames.

Yes and yes. He's always at the draft each year as well.

Sure but I am not saying it is u.
I am fan I buy tickets I watch the games.
Just ppl complaining over bad product is really new age thing. Ppl that dont support why complain? Why watch? Not saying that's you. But you are complaining eh?
We made strides in drafting. We are not a big market unfortunately cgy is a small city relative. Players don't want to be here It's a luxury not a right.
It's entertainment?
I won't respond further.

Good for you, it’s 2025 and the new gen fans are flakey or have become Oiler fans within the past 10 years since McDavid. Flames better have a decent roster by 2027 with the new arena or that support is out the window.

I don't think for hoping for better than the 30th best owner in the league is asking too much.
Just because I can complain about the ownership doesn't mean I don't find positives elsewhere with this team, or that I don't enjoy following them.
This idea that fans who are disappointed or vocally upset are somehow disloyal is such an odd thing to me.

The 90’s are pretty irrelevant in 2025. Really Edwards should be grateful the city still supports the team enough to fund him a new arena. In a lot of other North American markets this team would have likely moved a long time ago given the lack of success spanning35 years.

GOAT!

I've been convinced for a long time that ownership has mandated at least two home playoff games every season. Doesn't matter who the GM is, they'll never be allowed to rebuild/tank/etc. The only thing that matters is getting two playoff gates a year.

That's why they hung onto both their firsts and 20M in cap space...sorry narrative doesn't fit. They also traded all their significant UFAs last season

They could have signed Lindholm, Zadorov, and Tafolli, if they met their prices
Narrative may have fit in the past but it doesn't fit now even if you are mad...like I said multiple firsts and 20M in cap space. They weren't going all in for 2 playoff dates lets not be stupid because we are mad about the last few results.

Fanbase poll results?
Would be much more interested to hear player/employee and other executives.

Agreed. This is a pretty predictable result for a fan poll

The Stampeders poll was damning. Run by the same guy.

The priority was Lindholm, Hanifin and Tanev. It was reported right until they traded Tanev they took another stab at signing him. They tried a 2nd time with Hanifin in January and came to terms again but he ran away like a punk and tried to use his agent to weasel his way to Tampa.
I felt like they could have met Lindholm price but offered him 8.5 a year. What if he took that? Ugly deal.
It’s not just about the 2 playoff home games. Burke just said recently that the first round of the playoffs the revenues are pooled.
