What kind of game is that?? What is that teaching our children??

Okay...but you're going to have to give someone a vial of nitro glycerin and some TNT and be fully prepared never to see them again...

Ticket to Ride is the best. We have about seven or eight different board versions and our friends we play with have acquired the others. We're missing one I think. We rarely play anything else.

Yeah, yeah! Don't forget to teach your children how the Railroad was really built! With Blood!
After every torturous game of Ticket to Ride you should have to watch either Hell on Wheels or a documentary on the construction of the railroad!
Where is the 'Draw a Card' part of the game?
"You can either go around this mountain pass or murder 30 people in cold blood for money."
Where is that element??

The only good thing is that some of the popular games are almost "investment" level right now and it is easy to sell used games at little to no loss (but who knows when that market might crash.)

Compared to other entertainment, board games are cheap. Skiing at Sunshine is $180. How much is a round of golf? Flames or concert tickets? A good game will get played multiple times. Games can be resold.
We just formed a board game club in CNP. The group divides between casual and more serious gamers.

I’ve been a boardgame enthusiast for 25 years. I have shelves of games, and I play once or twice a week. I spend about $800 a year net (I buy more than that, but I recoup around $300 at the FallCon auction every year). I don’t think that’s a lot as the main hobby of a middle-aged adult with a decent job.

I got one a few weeks ago. I think buddy pout way to much butter on it. I have to go back and try again because it was great other than that. Amazing how a good sandwich is so hard to find and garbage Peppino Wonderbread Velveeta barf sandos get the love.

They use cultured butter, it's quite strong. I ordered the bonjour, the morbier cheese nearly knocked me off my feet. It was great.

Where have you been? Havent seen you in years!! How are the kids?
As for game nights, you of all people should know what when I'm interested and engaged I can be pretty good, but some of these board games, I just dont care.
So its probably a bit of both.

All 58 Hudson's Bays are closing tomorrow.
It is kind of sad to see one of Canada's first companies go away in a furious liquidation.
I still remember growing up and going to south centre and there was an Eaton's and a Bay. Our family used to shop at the Bay a lot because it was literally a one stop shop from clothes, to toys to tools to home decorating and appliances.
I can't remember the last time I went into a Bay, but it was probably a decade ago, I remember the last time I went it seemed so tired and it smelled like old people.
I seem to remember that the Hudson's Bay Company was established in about 1670 as outposts for trading and they followed the establishment of Canada setting up small posts across the country.
Now its gone.

I don’t think the stores are closing tomorrow. That’s when the liquidation will start

Shame, some of their downtown locations are amazing buildings.

Yeah, it’s not gone.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, whether through significant restructuring or new ownership, they end operating smaller, more specialized and more upscale stores in far fewer locations (like one per city, or something).
They’re a bloated, chaotic mess but there’s still value in the brand.
