Nah, Americans usually go with the charismatic guy, even if he's a moron. Bush won the popular vote AFTER invading Iraq. Only something major can get them to not care about charisma, like Covid in '20.

Peripheral routes of persuasion.
Instead of evaluating the content of the message (i.e. for truth.. not that that means much any more) they're persuaded by the best performance.
Which is dangerous because Trump with his showmanship edge and absence of moral compass could be a conduit for a broligarchy and project 2025. Which is precisely what happened.
Didn't help that Biden was in it so late and was essentially a zombie at the end.
Still disappointing to see the turnout from democratic voters.

Yeah I'm more centre-left, was centre-right growing up but things flipped in my late 20s. Either way I'm definitely a moderate, and can handle both sides in power as long as it's not extreme. Despite that, it's pretty clear who the "bad guys" are right now...elbows up.
