Of course that was an answer. I said get a proven coach and you said none of them would come here.
Which is BS. Any unemployed proven coach would consider comjng here. This isn't a leper colony.

Ok who?
Established coaches with proven winning track records absolutely care about the situation they are heading into. Otherwise they are happy to sit at home.
Unless you are talking about taking guys of the crap heap. That's what Calgary did with Hartley.

Yep, went dumpster diving for a coach and he ended up giving us one of the funnest seasons I can ever recall. Come back kids.

I can't recall who was available when they defaulted into hiring Huska. I can go back and take a look though.

They just fired Sutter and had to pay him 8 million they wouldn’t have hired anyone of significance.
It was Huska or Love.

So Huska wasn't the best person for the job?

I'm actually shocked people think our coaching staff is holding the team back. To me it's the complete opposite. Watching the behind the scenes on "The Chase" cements to me the quality of our coaching staff.
To think that Huska isn't letting players be creative in the offensive zone is ridiculous. If that's the case why are Kadri and Andersson allowed to try what they want regardless of poor decisions in the O zone and still get so much ice time?
Nobody thought the Flames would be where they are now. Sure Wolf has stolen some games but the coaching staff deserves a lot of credit for where we are as well.

I don’t know. Maybe you are forgetting the team was in turmoil after Treliving ran away and Sutter was fired. A lot of unhappy players. No real direction for the season until we knew what was happening with the free agents.
The players seemed to like the hire. The team has gotten worse since that time and we are in a better position standings wise.

Mostly likely yes. Huska's teams have traditionally underachieved offensively, regardless of the league he's coaching in.
The Flames may not have gamebreaking talent, but they actually do have decent offensive depth. They have player who has put up 40+ assists/season in the NHL for the past decade, another player who has been averaging 61 points per 82 games for the past 12 years, a defensive center that is usually in the top 60 centers for ES production, a couple players that have scored 20+ goals multiple times, and a couple younger players with skill (Frost, Coronato, and Zary).
This is a team that should at least be outscoring the Sharks, Preds, Isles, and Hawks instead of solidly being 32nd in GF. Another 10 goals on the season to-date locks up the last wild card spot for the Flames, but as we've seen in the past few weeks, Huska is forcing the team to play too conservatively once the Flames are ahead by one goal.

He has publicly stated both those third periods were way too passive and not aggressive enough

Sutter's 2 year extension expires after this season. I also doubt they gave Ward a 5 year extension when they removed the interim tag.
As for Huska, he is a much worse coach than Sutter from an analytics perspective. Sutter was sunk by terrible goaltending, just as much as Huska is elevated by it. Having 17 OtL/SOL also didn't help Sutter's case. Unfortunately, when losses pile up under a coach like Sutter he losses a room rather quickly.
I fully expected the Flames to be a bottom 5 team this season. That's why Huska should also get credit for them overachieving. For the first time in a very long time the Flames started the season on the right foot. They did it by showing up every night and out working teams.
In the game against COL the Flames forwards had a total caphit of $39.4M, the COL forwards had a caphit of $52.2M. The difference is one Nathan MacKinnon quality player making $12.6M. On Defence the Flames had a caphit of $15.6M, the AVS first pairing of Makar - Toews makes $16.25M, and the 6 man unit has a caphit of $31.25M. Yet somehow it's Huska's fault that we lose and make a game of it in the 3rd.
Is Huska a top 10 coach in the NHL? Definitely not. Are the Flames losing games directly because of his coaching/system? Also no. One could make an argument that he's not the best for the development of our young players. That said, Zary, Coronato, Pospisil, and Wolf were all used in roles where they could find success, and made progress under Huska's leadership.

Who are the "good coaches?" usually its the guys with the best rosters...go figure
Like what coach is so awesome he is doing well with a bad roster?
Mike Babcock was looked at as the greatest coach ever in Detroit and for team Canada...last overall in Toronto

I'm impressed you took the time to come to the Fire On Ice section when you have been busy defending your posts about how great Donald Trump and Pierre Poilievre are. Why would I take anything a traitor to his own country says seriously?

I think you could tell who the good coaches are based on how much better their team plays after they get the job.
My uneducated coaching tiers:
S: Cooper, Brind'Amour, Bednar, DeBoer, Cassidy
A: Maurice, Montgomery, Laviolette, Sullivan, Quenville
B: Tocchet, Torts, McClellan, Carberry
C: Berube, Keefee...
(Huska is probably between C and D tier)

These types of posts really take away from whatever argument you're trying to make about Huska or the system. You just sound unhinged calling someone a traitor for being on the other side of the political spectrum.
Again, I generally like your posts, but stick to the argument you're trying to make instead of making it personal when someone disagrees.
In your eyes how many more points would the Flames have in the standings with a different coach?
How many more goals would they score?
Which players would improve away from Huska and why?

I am a 1st time poster, never been banned. And again you are projecting, you fight with seemingly half the forum. I have followed this site for years before posting and you are always arguing with people and threatening to leave if anyone has a slightly different opinion than you.
I think the poll results speak for themselves, and they didn't go the way you wanted. Huska is not the worst coach in history. And the Flames don't have an all star team that is underachieving.
And I think being that you brought politics and Trump into this conversation in the 1st place does make you unhinged. Several people called you out on it, and you have yet to admit that your crazy hostile political posts started this entire argument.
