Honestly, the fact that most people are still talking about Dustin Wolf as simply "being in the Calder conversation" and not calling it a closed and shut case already is insulting to the brilliance we are seeing in net.
Dustin Wolf is the next generational goaltender.

If Wolf was playing like this for pretty much any team in the East they would have already awarded him the trophy.

Why is no one talking about Wolf the same? 32nd ranked in scoring and he has the team in a playoff spot. Makes no sense that the others are being talked about but not him

The Athletic has posted multiple Calder trophy articles, and Wolf has been top 3 in all of them. He’s the projected winner in the most recent.
Every Calder segment I’ve seen on Sportsnet has Wolf as a nominee. Multiple pundits have suggested he should win.
Where is this notion that nobody is talking about Wolf coming from?
Is this one of those fan things where 6 media personalities say something positive about the Flames, 2 don’t, and the reaction is WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE US?!?!?!?!?
The Flames are clinging to a wildcard spot. The goalie of a non-playoffs team winning the Calder is unprecedented. So the fact Wolf is a consensus Calder candidate shows the hockey media has absolutely recognized his excellence.

He said Hart trophy, not Calder.

Wolf deserves it
But he is a goalie playing in Calgary
So he is not going to get even nominated

No one gets nominated for theses awards.
The votes are counted among all rookies, and the top 3 vote getters are revealed in advance, with the leading vote getter eventually announced.

I don't think anyone snub 23 years ago for a different award has any bearing on Wolf's chances now, especially given he's been pretty much consensus top 3 months.

During the Habs game, Wolf wasn't even mentioned in the Calder conversation between the PBP guy and analyst.

It’s not personal. It’s due to time zones and distribution amongst those time zones.

Gio won the Norris in 2019, Kipper won the Vezina in 2006, and Iggy won the Rocket Richard in 2004 and 2002, and the Art Ross and Ted Lindsay in 2002.
Many wouldn't consider the Coach of Year, Lady Byng, Jennings, Leadership, Selke, Masterton, Clancy, etc. to be major awards.
Rather, the Calder, Rocket Richard, Art Ross, Ted Lindsay, Norris, Hart, Conn Smythe, and Vezina are the major awards. This is admittedly arbitrary.
The Flames have 2 out of the 160 major awards in the past 20 years. The average team has about 5 in that time.
I believe the Blue Jackets only have 2 in that period. The Wild only have one. Dallas apparently doesn't have any. Same goes for the Islanders and Sabres.
Interestingly, none of these teams have won any cups in the past 20 years. Buffalo in 2007 is the only Presidents Trophy. These teams only have one finals appearance (Dallas).

That’s not some sinister Eastern conspiracy against the Flames. Major awards are typically won by superstars. The Flames have been light on superstars in the last 20 years because we haven’t drafted top 4 AO - which is where you find most of the players who win the Hart, Norris, and Conn Smythe trophies.

It's amazing that Calgary finally has another potential franchise goalie, but now I'm worried about their ability to actually build a team around him. San Jose has Celebrini as a top 3 ROTY, but they'll still get another top pick this year to go along with him. With Wolf though we don't get that luxury, as he alone is enough to drag a bottom dwelling team to playoff contention. So much like with Kiprusoff, the Flames will be destined to finished 8-9th as long as he's between the pipes. How many teams have been able to build themselves into a contender without any top-10 picks?

What kind of money is Wolf likely to get? I'm thinking an eight year deal worth north of $100m at the rate the cap keeps going up.

Rocket Richard, Art Ross are not voted on you win those outright by scoring the most points and goals. Ted Lindsay is voted on by the players.
I would suggest if you can’t stay awake to watch western teams play you should have your vote revoked.
Just like having 5pm start times in calgary for those eastern teams. GTFO with that #### n
Vézina is votes by the GMs.
