Nice try! A vote for PP is the same as a vote for Trump in 2024.

I do like that the first countries Carney is visiting are France and England. Nothing setup with the US yet.

Carbon Tax is going to be gone by the end of the day.... what will the Cons do with all those ads?

A vote for Pierre is the same as a vote for Smith, Trump and fascist ideals. Never!

It can't be repeated enough: The same playbook was used to "unite the right" into both the UCP and the CPC, and as much as anyone tries to pretend that they are a moderate option, they simply aren't. The Wildrosers and Reformers are the dominant voice, and there is definitely some overlap with Maple MAGA.

And the results are predictably similar. The hard-right of the so-called "big tent" is driving policy and they are farther from the centre than ever.

I've been thinking - if Carney intends to govern to the right of Erin O'Toole, who am I to complain?

Not entirely.
They said a lot of things like "We aren't campaigning on an Alberta Pension Plan" and "We aren't campaigning on an Alberta Provincial Police Force"

Basically they said "Anything people almost universally don't like, we aren't campaigning on. We still intend to do them, we just aren't saying we will".

Nope wrong again. One Candidate may have a plan like Project 2025 and the other Candidate may not.
I'm sorry are we in the American Politics thread? I must have missed something.

Based on the cabinet it looks to me like most of the flunkies are back at it under different roles.

Pile of #### is a pile of #### and Carney looks like he's the same pile of #### as well based on his inability to see that Canada is looking for a fresh perspective.

Why not? Is Carney not allowed to set his cabinet?

You're right. Canadian politics are not influenced by anything going on south of the border. At all.

Good call.

Sure. If he actually intends to do that. I know a new election and actual mandate as PM will change a lot, as right now he's a rudderless ship with a pile of #### worth of cabinet ministers, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until the election is done.

Bill C-69 is still standing though, and the moron who pushed it is still in a cabinet role.

With all those same old cabinet members lined up behind Carney, shouldn't that tell us we will be getting the same old Trudeau Government by voting Liberal?

I don't judge a person's character by the way they speak but, MAN, is it refreshing to listen Carney speak as compared to Trudeau and Poilievre.

Carney's speeches and press QnA flow so much more smoothly. Its nice to have no long "uhs and aahs.

I think Carney's answer to that question was satisfactory

This shouldn't be surprising. Carney has been amongst these people for years. He certainly has no intention of making any significant changes. Trudeau is one of the worst Prime Ministers in Canadian history (backed by all time low approval ratings) and I certainly hope Carney can do better if elected. Despite what anyone wants to say the performance of the previous/current Canadian government has done serious harm to this country. If you need backing feel free to look up any economic metric you'd like. Take those metrics and make an apple to apple comparison against a country that has the advantages we have with regards to resources etc. Of course, given our unique advantages its a comparison that cant be made.

What really bothered me about the question period after his speech was the question relating to when he would call an election. He laughed and said, "you can expect one before November." I know he is simply trying to evade the question but give the Canadian people what they want. Give them a choice. Its pathetic that he would answer that questions with a laugh and evade it. Shameful.
