2 games will really sting, if Backlund is also out

Love how the panelists on Sportsnet love to point out dirty hits by the Flames and advocate for suspensions, but when it's one of their darling Oilers doling out the dirty hit there isn't a goddamn peep out of them!!! You think Justin Bourne would have said anything if that was Draisaitl throwing that hit. Not a chance!! He would have been praising him for sticking up for a teammate.

2 games is about right. A rarity for DOPS.

Given that they said this:
Quote:
On this play, Zary sees a teammate take a hard but legal check and responds intentionally in retribution by delivering a hit with his extended elbow that makes significant head contact and is delivered with requisite force for supplemental discipline.
... he's lucky it's only two. They're basically saying it was intent to injure.

Not a fan of the elbow, and 2 games feels right.

Not a fan of the sportsnet lobbying. It’s to be expected though. If Zary was an oiler, it would be justified and “rolling up the shoulder “ and “Canucks’ player’s fault.”

Is it too much to ask for consistency?

Just look at the narrative a bunch of them were throwing around when McTantrum crosschecked Garland. That he takes so much abuse that doesn't get called so he finally had enough.

Suspension is fine by itself but its annoying that Flames opponents get away with simalar hits

The Sportsnet guy literally said he thought a 2-min minor penalty was enough.

Gazdic surprisingly did after it was brought up, but Constantino who was hammered on Oileraid last night and Bourne were up in arms. I doubt it even gets mentioned if it's the Oilers.

The league continues to be an inconsistent joke. Bahl ran from behind into the boards and out for a month and it’s a 2 minute minor. Lol. Okay NHL.

I think it was a dumb play by him that cost the Flames a goal against but we have seen plenty of dirty retributions go unpunished. I'm okay with the suspension and as a fan all we can ask for is consistency from the NHL disciplinarians but I get the feeling that if it was Mitch Marner committing that offense that there's likely no suspension.

Some guy runs Bahl from behind and drives his head into the boards, no fine or suspension. Zary elbows the guy, bad move, but 2 games. Can anyone explain how Department of Player Safety decides ####.

I am not complaining about Zary suspension, just trying to figure out how an elbow is any worse than driving a guy face first into the boards is less of risk.

BS, should have been 40 games, even though it looked like De D pettersson, left his feet a little and not just a impact rise.

One of them did. The other 2 were calling for a suspension.

I'm on the same page as most. 2 games is fair but the DOPS is so inconsistent that it's frustrating.
