It's a great ad but why place it in Flames games? Stupid lemmings here won't care. They need to run that 10 times during a Leafs game.
Also listening to stupid Yappydog speak makes people nauseous.

Do you have a source for the distorted GDP improving?
Yes, the Liberals have screwed up immigration, we can all agree on that.
You disagree that Canada is performing poorly relative to our peers? What information do you have to back up that claim?

I'm not so sure immigration is as screwed up as people think. Demographically, Canada would be in a really bad place if not for immigration. The birth rate is really low, and people live longer with a high expectation of state provided support. With the Boomers now mostly being 60 to 80 years old...the country is very much in a structure where the number of dependents would outnumber the workers.
There definitely were some mis steps, and some foreign actors manipulated things for sure. But when I hear angry white people crying that our country is full and stop taking our jobs...that take is so wrong.

They went to many, too fast. That's all. Easy enoguh to adjust, getting the exact number correct each year is probably a tough game.

Yeah. We don't need immigrants. People like DrFever will put his GED to good use and work double shifts at Tim's and then Wendy's at night.

Nobody is saying we don’t need or want immigration. However, even the Liberal government admits they screwed up immigration. So you can argue that they haven’t screwed it up, but you are arguing with the Liberal government.

For five straight quarters, Canada’s GDP per capita has fallen.
This phenomenon can be explained by the boom in population that Canada is experiencing, according to economist Mikel Skuterud of the University of Waterloo. He compared the GDP of a country to a pie, divided by the population, with GDP per capita being the slice of the pie that every Canadian gets.
“I think you’d be hard-pressed to find any economist in Canada that doesn’t believe that the exceptionally high population growth rates we’re experiencing now have contributed to that decline in GDP per capita that we’re seeing,” Skuterud said, as per the National Post.

From all the stuff I have seen we are up or down relative to peers, but all in the same game. We maybe be behind in some areas, but that doesn't mean we are broken.

This research bulletin examines historical and projected trends in the growth of Canada's GDP per capita, and compares these trends to those in peer countries in the OECD.
Canadians have been getting poorer relative to residents of other countries in the OECD. From 2002 to 2014, Canadian income growth as measured by GDP per capita roughly kept pace with the rest of the OECD. From 2014 to 2022, however, Canada's position declined sharply, ranking third-lowest among 30 countries for average growth over the period.
Between 2012 and 2022, Canada lost ground compared to key allies and trading partners such as the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia, with Canadian GDP per capita declining from 80.4% of the US level in 2012 to 72.3% in 2022.

To me today's housing and other affordability issues are easier to fix than a population/demographic problem.
I don't expect any government to nail this 100%. So I'd rather have the problems we do...than be looking at a more severe demographic crisis. I think that's the much more challenging problem to deal with.

Fantastic news on the Cabinet size but unfortunately with that it sounds like Steven Guilbeault is going to be doing more work. Come on Carney, you can do better than that.
Quote:
Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault will be given a new portfolio in Mark Carney's cabinet, a source with knowledge of the decision told Radio-Canada.
The Montreal MP and former Greenpeace activist, who has held the portfolio since 2021, will instead be responsible for various files, said the source, who was not authorized to speak on the record.
However, he will no longer be the face of the fight against climate change.

People fall for the fact that elected officials in the ruling party will continue to be elected officials in the ruling party?

You don't think that amongst the 120 or so Liberal back benchers there are some MPs who are as capable or more capable than Guilbeault, which is a pretty low bar?

Guilbeault is still a big draw especially in Montreal, and he is one of the heavyweights that the Liberals need to keep the environmentalists onboard which Carney supports and Carney needed to be onside with him.
It shouldn't be a surprise that he stays on board, and yet him getting moved out of the Environment portfolio means Carney knows he is a negative in that portfolio. It's a calculated move.
It's about as good as a move as can occur, if you are looking at it from the perspective of a party trying to get elected.

A year ago I told Kerry Diotte (CON Edmonton Griesbach) that his party would not form government. He laughed at me. A poll I just saw (polls, I know) shows the CONs and Libs tied. He who laughs last….
Diotte is a known liar from his city council days in Edmonton. Lost a run for mayor and lost his federal seat once. I hope he does again.

I'm not your AI bitch, so go find the source yourself if you have something against this guy or site or whatever. Maybe Skuterud has written some other stuff. I don't care, you want to know, go find it.

I hate engaging with you. You know exactly what I mean and just like to be difficult on a message board. it's like interacting with a child.
I'll make it more clear then. By removing him from the forefront of the file due to his position as minister they are potentially taking away the perception that he is involved while the reality is he will continue to pull the strings from behind the curtain.
I wont respond to anything you send back because I've put you on ignore, I've stated multiple times I'm fairly centrist thinking but I don't think your opinions offer any value so am not longer interested in reading them.

Do you have a source or do you agree that Canada is performing poorly economically relative to our peers?
