I don't understand how an NHL coach can't make adjustments during a game. Too much hand holding.

This game showed why backlund is such an important piece for shutdown.
Canucks free wheeling into flames territory with ease.

JC the whining in here. Got a point (3 pt game was the worst case scenario for STL and UTH) and we still hold the playoff spot. It's a long season and tomorrow is another day.

I like Frost a lot but I'd like to see more offense from him. He has it in him.
The Sharky thing is tough......he looks bad but if he ever got going again it's found money and a huge boost to the team. Would be a massive add to the offense. It's tough to watch though. Would I give him the same ice in game 82 to make the playoffs? No. But tonight, I guess I can see why they are trying everything to get hm going. Very tough to watch him struggle so badly with everything.

Huberdeau and Kadri showed up. No one else generated offense.
20 minutes is too long for prevent defense.

Not to pile on but Yegor was bad.
Weegar was terrible in OT. The whole team lacked mojo after regulation.

At least this outcome helps operation knock Edmonton out of the playoffs. They're only 7 points up now.

The league needs to address OT, Vancouver skating around in the Neutral zone, not even trying to enter the zone for a minute and a half.
The refs should call a delay of game penalty.

Sharangovich playing like the love child of James Neal and Troy Brouwer. Absolutely completely useless. He just melts on the boards, scared of contact, can’t pass, used to be able to shoot but now plays target practice on the glass. I usually don’t like to pile on a player but he is on the path of being on my least favourite Flames Mt.Rushmore.

The 4th shooter in the shootout that has more career shootout goals than anyone on the team didnt cost them the game IMO. I mean he almost scored it. I hate shootouts...and fan reactions to shootouts. Its basically a coin toss.

This was a chance to control their destiny though and derail Van's season.
And they've been sitting for 3 days.
It feels a lot better to beat teams outright for the spot you're competing for than rely on other teams to do it.
It's just part of what's made this team disappointing since they dismantled the former core. They show up enough to be in it, but they don't show up when you really want them to.

I miss Gaudeau, Monahan and Gio. They were clutch

We simply don't have the talent of a Hughes or Petterson. The elite talent gap shows in overtime.

Meh, those are the ones that the Flames will need in the end, taking points off those below them. Especially holding a lead and playing a team on the back end of a back to back.
Backlund leaving affected the lines and combos but Vancouver had more energy in the third. Zary and Lomberg didn't play aot after their penalties so it was a short bench in the third too.

Nah. Not giving the coach a pass tonight.
3-2 going into the third, we had all the momentum and VAN was on the ropes.
