43% lol
I think that is because of the St. Louis team with games in hand.

But ya, in principle it seems odd.

St Louis 65 GP
Calgary 63 GP

The Flames are the team with games in hand, not the Blues.

I'm still team tank, but predict a resounding win tonight!

All apologies.

Now that we're neck and neck with Vancouver for the last playoff spot, how huge was that comeback OT win in the first game of the season?

It is cliché but also totally true to say that this team showed us from day 1 that they believed in themselves when no one else did.

Crap St. Louis actually has a really easy schedule.

definitely true, I find in some ways that washes away in the last 5-10 games a little bit- some of the best teams start coasting/resting, some of the lesser teams (unless they are in an intense tank battle) are in 'spoiler mode' often with some hungry younger players, and the teams in the thick of the race (the mushy middle) are most desperate

but yeah the Blues have an easier ride that way

^ Yep. Flames play the Sharks and Ducks twice each. If fans think those are the gimme games, they have another thing coming.

To add to that, there is no such thing as gimme games when you’re the worst GFPG team in the league.

Looking at that playoff bracket is gross. I don’t think I can handle another Kings Oilers series. Can they not get somebody else in the first round lol.

Dude.

I was a tanksista since the offseason, but at this point you have to be cheering for playoffs now.

They aren't bad enough to draft top 10, so we may as well chase playoffs and hope for a Cinderella run. If they tank now, they'll draft 15th or 16th.

Well, Oilers can be knocked down to Wild Card spot and it can be Kings vs Flames.

If the Oilers can string together a few wins (sorry) they'd play either Colorado or Minnesota. I'd much rather that than the Kings for the 4th time.

Edit - The above scenario (Oil to WC1) is less likely but far more palatable

Exactly...on those strength of schedule sites one of Calgary's hard games is the LA one added to the end of the season. Meanwhile its likely beyond meaningless for them.

Flames opponents are .547
Blues are .520

A lot of that is their 3 games with Nashville, one of their biggest rivals. I bet Nashville gets up to play those games.

It’s all the ingredients for the recipe of a Flames loss.

But this team is the anti Flames. They do the opposite of all of the previous versions.

They play all the crap teams down the stretch. Only 5 playoff teams. I’d say they have the upper hand of all of the teams in the race.

I have been a Flames fan for too long to believe this.
We are 4 points up from the 23rd team. A short losing streak would put us in the bottom 10 easily.

Its a win-win-lose.
If the Flames make the Playoffs, we win! [for 8 days]
If the Flames finish bottom 10, we win!
If the Flames finish in the bottom 11-16, we lose...

They have two less games than the Flames and their opponents only have .27 worse winning percentage than the Flames opponents.

They certainly don't have the upper hand, I wouldn't trade them the games in hand and points lead for the schedule.

Not until the NHL changes the stupid format.
