News Roundup

'Exciting For Everybody'

Division rivals.

Inter-provincial foes.

Bigtime playoff implications.

Wednesday’s tilt against the Canucks has all the makings of a late-season classic, as the two teams wrap up their four-game season set at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Flames' Wolf Overlooked In Calder Trophy Voting

On Monday, NHL.com announced that 16 of their writers cast their votes in a mock election for the winner of the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year.

Unfortunately, Calgary Flames netminder Dustin Wolf, having a historic rookie season, has become overlooked, finishing third in the vote behind Lane Hutson (Montreal) and Macklin Celebrini (San Jose), but ahead of Matvei Michkov (Philadelphia).

Calgary Flames’ 2025 NHL draft first-round pick projection: 19 games remaining

Although it was a trade deadline that saw Calgary Flames general manager Craig Conroy hold onto his assets and make zero trades, it’s evident that management is committed to a playoff push. Despite standing pat on deadline day, the Flames did bring in Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost at the end of January in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers. Conroy has said numerous times this group has earned the opportunity to compete for a playoff push and they’re going to stay together for the rest of the season.

Flames select a couple forwards in Daily Faceoff’s 2025 NHL Mock Draft

Friends, the Calgary Flames are smack-dab in the middle of the Western Conference playoff hunt. Heck, if the regular season ended today, they would be a playoff team!

I’m excited for the emotions that may surface in this game with playoff implications on the line. Both teams have trouble scoring but the Flames are more sound defensively so I think they should take it. I was hard on Farabee in his first few weeks with the Flames but he’s hit another gear lately and I appreciate what he’s bringing now. I would love to see the ‘power forward’ in Huberdeau emerge again in this stretch to the playoffs. Go Flames!

This is the most excited I've been for a game this year!

The Flames fan in me is expecting the worst in a game where a struggling team is traveling and playing back-to-back home followed by road game, rivalry, while the Flames are rested, playing pretty well of late. This usually ends up 4-1 for the opposition.

Not this time! This team is different! I say the Flames put on a dominating performance and win 4-2!

Or a birthday win for me for tomorrow in a wild one, Canucks 4, Flames 8!

One of the most pivotal, momentous games in a while.

Would be awesome if we could snag the win. Not only that, but the Canucks cannot be sellers with the TDL over.

Wow, what a swing game. 23% chance of playoffs if we lose in regulation and 43% chance of playoffs if we win in regulation

Habs looked like the Flames last night trying to clear their own zone. So slow, allowing Canucks to close quickly and pressure.

So really just play your game and the Flames ought to be fine.

I want to either make the playoffs or finish bottom 10.
The team's trade deadline clearly shows that they're intent on not tanking, so they better be balls to the wall from here on out!
Vancouver is shakey, so let's put them in the ground and start putting some points together.

I expect they will rush Hughes back tonight even though he isn't close to 100%. I am not advocating for dirty hits but whenever he touches the puck lay a good hard hit on him and see if we can't take him out of the game and hopefully the rest of the regular season. 2 points tonight would be huge getting a 3 point lead with a game in hand. GFG.
